Philadelphia Independents is an independent gift shop at 35 N 3rd St in Philadelphia, PA, with a distinctly local, playful selection for browsing and gift-giving. Visitors describe an eclectic mix of artisan crafts, Philadelphia-themed souvenirs, and witty, cute, fun items. Rather than a generic souvenir stop, it is a place to look for unusual finds and locally themed pieces that feel personal, whether you are shopping for someone else or choosing a small reminder of the city for yourself.

The shop is especially suited to people who enjoy browsing a varied collection and discovering items they may not see in a standard chain store. Customer reviews mention cute local goods and unique pieces that work well as gifts, along with artisan crafts and Philadelphia-inspired keepsakes. The selection can appeal to visitors seeking a memento, residents looking for a thoughtful present, and anyone who appreciates an eclectic retail mix. Some shoppers find the prices a little high, so it may be worth viewing the visit as a chance to find distinctive items rather than expecting every purchase to be a bargain.

A few reviewers also report using the shop for luggage storage while exploring or waiting for accommodation check-in. Those customers describe the experience as convenient and say they felt comfortable leaving their bags; this service is mentioned in customer feedback, so travelers can contact the shop directly to confirm current availability and details before relying on it. It can be a practical extra for visitors who want to browse or continue sightseeing without carrying luggage, while the shop itself offers a relaxed opportunity to look around for local gifts.

Feedback about the in-store welcome is mixed. Several customers describe kind, helpful service, while others say they did not feel welcomed or found the staff member at the register unkind. The overall rating is 4.3 from 94 reviews, offering a useful snapshot alongside those differing experiences. Philadelphia Independents is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Its Old City address makes it a straightforward stop to add to a Philadelphia outing; visit for the local souvenirs, playful finds, and artisan gifts, and check ahead if you have a particular item or luggage-storage need in mind.

Loved all the witty, cute, and fun items. Such a wonderful little shop! Like a lot of reviews mentioned, the person running the shop was very short and unkind. No one else was in the shop, it was just me and my friend quietly browsing. I complimented the owner about the items and inquired about potentially selling some of my custom sticker designs that were Philly themed, but not anymore. Given how annoyed she seemed with me asking simple questions, I threw away the business card away after we left. No thanks, I'll go someplace where I'm not treated like a pest. Thank God the shop a few stores down was very kind and helpful. It's a pity and like a few other reviews said, I genuinely loved the store and was impressed with the unique items. It just took me by surprise how annoyed she was with me simply asking questions. I get that it's stressful to run a business, but it's no excuse to treat potential customers like trash. Don't run a business then if you hate interacting with people so much.

I arrived too early for check-in and was looking for a luggage storage and luckily I found this place. When I entered I immediately understood that I could rest easy for my luggage because I was welcomed by a very nice and kind young lady. The luggage storage service is offered in this very nice souvenir shop where there are very particular things different from the usual souvenir shops with a really kind service.

Nice eclectic selection of artisan crafts and philadelphia themed souvenirs. A bit pricey, but some unique pieces great for gift- giving.

This is a double 5 star review! We stashed our luggage here, and it worked perfectly, and I felt totally secure leaving it! Seamless! And we picked up some excellent gifts in the store, that had lots of cute, local items. Recommend!
