Sign in to reviewI wanted to leave this new review for Piedmont Family Spa. I had a booking problem a couple of months ago. To summarize I had booked online, received confirmation of my booking, showed up for my appointment & was told I had no appointment. I left feeling quite unhappy. But I'm very happy to say the manager or owner contacted me the next day. He explained there was a computer glitch mistake & offered me another appointment at half charge at my earliest convenience & I did take him up on that. The massage was great & I left feeling good & feeling good about coming back for future service. I see some people have reviewed bad tipping experiences. I have not personally experienced this. I tend to give 20% for just about everything. Food, haircuts & massages. My last massage therapist didn't exactly smile or thank me when I tipped him but I feel strongly that 20% is fair & adequate so I don't care that much if he was displeased. I will return to the spa & I will continue to tip as I do. Thank you.
I’m visiting a friend, and she surprised me with a massage after a 14-hour flight from Japan—I was really excited. The facility is tucked into a suburban area with easily accessible street parking. However, the space did not match the photos online. The lobby itself was clean, and the receptionist was initially pleasant. We paid upfront in cash, as required by the salon’s policy, and completed all necessary paperwork. At no point—online, in the paperwork, or verbally—was there any mention of a required 20% gratuity for massages. The massage was great. As we were leaving, I tipped my masseuse with the remaining cash I had on hand (about 15%). My friend had stepped outside to take an important phone call. At that point, the other masseuse followed us outside and insisted we return to the salon, stating we must pay. I explained that we had already paid prior to the service. When we returned to the receptionist, she demanded 20% tip stating its mandatory. We explained that we were not informed of any mandatory gratuity and tips are based upon service. Despite this, they continued to insist. If a 20% gratuity is required, it should be clearly disclosed upfront or automatically included in the total cost. Being approached outside after the service to demand additional payment was both uncomfortable and unprofessional.
It was horrible…. My body is in worse shape than when I arrived. It seemed as though that both masseuse for me and my partner were either untrained or uninterested in their work. The noise is also INSANE!!! It is so loud. People stomping, walking, talking, snoring, sniffling and spitting. The workers drag everything across the wooden floor so it is extremely loud. Won’t be going back:( highly recommend you find somewhere else to go as well. I called to let them know about my experience (both me and the person I went with are in more pain than when we walked in. We had to tell them multiple times to be more gentle or to stop rubbing so hard through our shirt because we were getting friction burns from the fabric.) So I called to share how bad my experience in hopes that’d make some changes for future guests. the receptionist answered and when she realized that I was unhappy told me she was too busy to talk (we were on the phone for 1.5 minutes) just tried to gaslight me and said she’d called back…. She didn’t. So I decided to go in and speak face to face with my partner. She just tried to act dumb, literally ignore us by not looking or speaking until I told her she needs to address this. So then started to get more aggressive and rude by looking us with the most disgust in her face. Told us we’re fine and even tried to get up and touch our bodies to prove everything was fine (like why are you trying to touch us? You are a receptionist.) She called her son I think and he instantly told her to give us a refund. Despite all of this we were calm and nice. Once I got my money back though I let her know about herself and left. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!
My massage therapist was wonderful. She was attentive to my body and found lots of tense spots. Service was timely and straight-forward, I will definitely be back!
booked the 60 min session. they didn't work on some of the areas i circled which were my lower back and forearms. only worked on my upper back/shoulders and my legs. my masseuse also kept scratching her head, like she'd stop massaging me to scratch her head. it's unsettling when you're getting a massage and your masseuse is consistently scratching their head. when i got up i saw the towel that i laid my head on when facing forward, and it had a bunch of hair on it that i know is not mine. it was a really subpar experience, i wouldn't come back
