Listen, if you’re a curly girlie, this is not for you. My husband got me a Groupon for our anniversary to try it out. We were going to make it a regular thing if I liked it, but I have very curly hair and it seemed to get in way of a proper cleanse of my scalp and a more effective massage (felt like a tickle). The experience itself wasn’t bad I guess and the foot and shoulder massage were nice. The only downside was I am also a short person so the massage chair was massaging my butt the whole time which actually did make my back hurt by the end of it. It took me 40 minutes to detangle my hair afterwards and I ended up washing my hair myself to get a thorough clean of my scalp underneath my hair and properly condition it. And as curly as my hair is, it’s not thick at all and actually pretty easy to manage. But if you’re rubbing circles over the top of all of my hair, it will definitely tangle like crazy (picture for proof of the before and after of my hair) I left looking like Angelica from Rugrats. Prioritizing scalp health is one thing, but completely ignoring the hair as a whole is another. Also communicating was difficult because of the difference in language and my things were set aside during the process, so no Google Translate. Also apparently be prepared to pay extra if you’re coming off a Groupon because apparently taxes (almost $20) on an $80 service for the service are paid separately? I’m pretty sure it was a forced tip. I also included a picture of my natural hair pattern when it’s dry.
I kind of accidentally stumbled across this place, then found their weekend 2-for-1 offer (booked directly through them, not Groupon as mentioned in some other reviews). It was an awesome deal because you can bring someone with you instead of having to use both treatments on yourself. Based on some of the negative reviews, I was a bit worried about what the experience would be like, but luckily it was fantastic! As soon as I stepped inside, I was greeted by a lovely, calm atmosphere, and the whole place smelled amazing. The spa treatment room is towards the back. It also had a lovely scent, with gentle, calming music playing in the background. The massage chairs were fantastic, and both therapists were so polite, friendly, and professional. They did a great job! I'll absolutely be recommending this place to my friends. For my hijabi ladies: the spa treatment room is private, and they have a curtain for additional privacy, which I really appreciated. Also worth mentioning: to begin with, the front door to the building was locked when I arrived, which initially made me a little concerned. Luckily, two ladies let me in. I was greeted in Spanish at first, but they switched to English as soon as I asked (phew!). Thankfully, that was the last of my "oh no" moments.
