Sign in to reviewI have been going to Josie at Salon Sol for over 15 years. My beautiful hair is healthier because of her. She is a perfectionist and actually cares about the health of your hair.
Tommy is amazing. He does such a good job with my hair. When he does the partial highlights, he takes his time getting it just right. He definitely has an artistic eye. He does such a great job with my hair cuts as well. My hair can be difficult to cut since it is so fine and lots of it. He impresses me every time with the amount of detail work he does to make my hair look really good.
I had an appointment with Jenny ~3 weeks ago, but she seemed to be running late that day, so Josie said she could do it. I've never been there before so I agreed. I don't know when Jenny every could have cut my hair if Josie hadn't been there. As soon as the person left who she'd been styling when I arrived, another client came in, so it seems like they're double booked. I received the worst haircut of my life with Josie. The back layers are WAY too short (approx 3 inches shorter than the layers in front, and about 5 inches from the bottom layer...) It honestly looks so horrible and awful an 8 year old could have done it. It's all over the place which makes my wavy hair look truly awful and unkempt. I'll be wearing it in a pony tail for the next 6 months. I tried to be polite after she showed me the back, as I was shocked it looked like she completely messed up. Instead of offering for someone else to correct it or admitting to anything, she was very unprofessional. At first told me it looked like the picture I showed. I pulled out the picture and told her no, it does not. Then she tried to say it was because my hair is wavy... Well. You saw my hair when I came in and it was wavy! So no surprises there. And other people have cut this wavy hair for 35 years of my life without as much issue as she had. Then she tried to say it will look better when it is styled. Ok, so she styled it and it looked better, but still not great and I'd already told her I have a busy schedule and can't spend time styling my hair every day. I wish I had not gone here. I'm fairly laid back and realize it will grow out eventually, but I can imagine most women in this area throwing a full-on fit if given this hair cut. The hair cut was $50 and I tipped $10 because I want them to be able to pay the bills, but this was surprising as it doesn't seem like a high end salon. Honestly, for $60 you could get your hair cut by someone with more training at another salon.
Salon Sol is AMAZING! I am a stylist as well so I'm always pretty skeptical of people doing my hair, but I felt at piece from the moment I walked inside. Tommy was a magician fixing the horrible job I've done to my hair over the years, and he delivered a scalp massage from the heaven's! I will definitely be going back!
I bought a Groupon Deal for haircut and deep hair conditioning. And I am absolutely disappointed by the service. Firstly, the deep conditioning was just a shampoo and conditioner. I hardly think that is "deep conditioning" of any kind. Secondly, the haircut looks like some inexperienced person chopped my hair off randomly. Also I had specifically asked that I would not want to lower my hair length. My hair is 2" small then what it used to be. Thirdly, you need to explicitly mention that styling is only for light hair and people with heavy hair will be charged extra $15 for a blowout. I found this absolutely unprofessional. I will not recommend Salon Sol to anyone looking for a good service.
