Salon Zen is a hair salon at 5202 Nations Ford Rd in Charlotte, North Carolina (28217), serving people looking for attentive hair care and styling in a calm setting. Customer feedback describes the environment as clean, quiet, and relaxing. Reviews mention stylist Krystal for taking time with clients, explaining what she is doing, and bringing knowledge and care to appointments. Those details may matter if you want to discuss your hair goals before a service or prefer a stylist who talks you through the process. Salon Zen has a 4.6-star rating from 101 reviews, offering a helpful snapshot of customer experiences while recognizing that individual visits can vary.

Services mentioned by customers include haircuts, styling, and silk presses on natural hair. One client came in concerned that damaged-looking ends might mean losing much of her length; she says Krystal was able to preserve her hair and style it beautifully. Another reviewer describes a silk press appointment for her high-school-aged daughter, who was initially unsure whether the service would be worthwhile. She was pleased with the result and the time taken with her daughter’s natural hair. These accounts offer useful context for people considering a cut, a polished style, or a silk press, but the best approach for your own hair will depend on your needs and the consultation.

The salon may be a good fit for clients who appreciate a quieter atmosphere, a careful pace, and clear explanations during an appointment. Reviews also describe a positive experience with Krystal and her daughter, while another customer mentions enjoying the salon and loving her stylist. At the same time, one reviewer reported a disappointing visit for a major haircut and noted that several beauticians were away at a hair show. That mixed feedback is a reminder to communicate your desired cut in advance, confirm who will be available, and discuss expectations before beginning a significant change. Scheduling was described as easy in that review, though experiences can differ.

Salon Zen is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; it is closed Sunday. Its Nations Ford Road address places it in Charlotte’s 28217 area, making it a local option for residents and visitors seeking a hair salon in Charlotte, NC. If you are considering a natural-hair silk press, haircut, or styling appointment, you can use the salon’s listed hours to plan a visit and contact the business directly to confirm availability and discuss the service you have in mind. A clear conversation about your hair goals can help set expectations for your appointment.

Such a great experience here. My high school daughter went to get a silk press on her natural hair reluctantly (thinking it would be a waist of time and money) however Krystal out did herself with her hair. She took her time treating her …

I don’t usually post reviews and decided to go ahead and post my experience. Scheduling was easy however service not good. I went at a time when most of the beauticians were at a hair show. I was doing the big chop so I emailed the lady the exact cut I wanted when I made the appointment. I came in for my appointment and I asked her did she remember the haircut I wanted. Her response was “oh yea I do that cut all the time” so I trusted her. Keep in mind I have natural hair no color or relaxer. Fast forward...it wasn’t even close to the cut I wanted and my bangs were heat damaged. I couldn’t wear my wet and go look bc my bangs were so straight and I had little straight pieces throughout. I dont ever plan to go back to salon zen bc I had to shave what was left of my hair off and start completely over. Recently I went to a beautician in Gastonia for a blowout and I received the exact results I wanted: NO HEAT DAMAGE. All I have to say is ladies do your research. Pic #1 is my hair with heat damage pic #2 was my hair after I received a blowout after doing absolutely nothing to my hair for a yr for fear that someone was going to damage it again. Goes to show you that some people know what they’re doing and others don’t need to be in this business

Krystal was Heaven sent! Her knowledge and expertise was exactly what I needed. I went in thinking that I would have to get most of my hair cut off and Krystal saved it and then beautifully styled it. My ends look beautiful now. Not all frazzled like they were when I walked in. I’m so very happy with her. I told her that she WILL see me again and again.
