Its 4.5 rating is based on 175 reviews, offering a substantial collection of customer perspectives for prospective visitors to consider.
The salon is a destination for clients seeking haircut services and personalized hair-care appointments in Austin. A clear consultation is especially useful when arriving with a reference photo or a specific goal for shape, length, layers, or face framing. Customers who want their requested look understood can use the appointment conversation to discuss their preferences in detail, including styling tools and products that may be used during the service. Open, specific communication helps establish shared expectations before the appointment begins.
In addition to the salon's hair-focused setting, one customer review calls attention to a skincare service located in a back room. That reviewer describes the experience as relaxing and notes modern, high-end technology, as well as a glossy-looking finish. This may be of interest to Austin visitors looking for skincare alongside a salon visit, though availability and service details are best confirmed directly with the business. The mix of hair and skincare feedback gives prospective clients another point to explore when deciding which services fit their needs.
Review experiences at Scissors Sound Hair Salon vary, and several customers specifically mention appointment timing, consultation results, cleanliness concerns, and group reservation details. Because individual expectations and experiences can differ, it is sensible to confirm the appointment time, the number of people in a booking, the exact service requested, and any questions about tools or sanitation practices before visiting. For those comparing hair salons in Austin, TX, Scissors Sound Hair Salon provides a North Lamar location, broad weekday and Saturday hours, and a review profile worth reading closely before making a reservation.

Sign in to review45 minutes late to my appointment because she was getting her nails done at the Arboretum, then proceeded to give me the single worst haircut of my life. Nothing like the picture I showed her. I still paid in full and tipped, because I'm a coward. She'd also overslept my last appointment and made me wait 20 minutes out in the cold, so I guess this is on me.
- Dirty brushes, stations, no advanced sanitation between clients - Little attention to face framing, opposite of what was asked during consultation - Rugged old hair straightener on recently washed hair without heat protection products. I insisted twice that I can hear my hair popping and the steam was coming. I could smell my burnt hair while she was persuading me that everything is fine. - During consultation Sarah was mildly annoyed at my questions because “it takes less time to cut my hair than to answer them” - Result: very affordable haircut (even for long hair) you get what you pay - Reference, before and after pictures attached
The skincare service located in the backroom of this hair salon is a hidden gem of all skincare. By using the most modern high end technology, Esther makes you so relaxed and makes your face glossy like glass. Highly recommended
I called and reserved for me and my 3 friends but when we got there they said I only reserved for one person. Then they started talking about us in Korean saying how we were indecisive on whether we wanted a cut or not because 2 of my friends left as we thought it would inconvenience them since they were only prepared for one customer. After I went to get my haircut and spoke to the worker in Korean, she told me that they “assumed” we were all Chinese. After I started speaking Korean, they suddenly started apologizing and being nice. The haircut itself was also mediocre and not worth 30 dollars for a mens cut.
I came on time but had to wait 25 mins even with a booked appointment. Bad cut. She seemed in a rush. Update: It’s been 4 months and I’m still suffering from the bad cut… I’m so sad it will take forever to grow out.
