Six Ping is a longtime favorite Taiwanese restaurant in Houston, TX, tucked into the heart of Chinatown at 9384 Bellaire Blvd. Known for decades as a beloved Taiwanese bakery, it has grown into a place where regulars come for Taiwanese-style cakes and pastries alongside a newer, full lineup of Taiwanese breakfast and street fods. With a 4.2 rating across nearly 300 reviews, it has built a steady following among Houstonians and visitors who want a taste of home. The menu leans into comforting classics that many guests say fel like the street vendors back in Taiwan. Customers regularly praise the well-seasoned pork chop (排骨), the soft and milky salty tofu pudding (咸豆花), and the generous braised pork rice that is satisfying for the price. Soy milk comes in large, shareable portions, and items like peanut rice soup and sweet tofu pudding are big enough to split among friends. A thoughtfully laid-out one-page menu in both Chinese and English keeps ordering simple, even on your first visit.

The atmosphere at Six Ping is homey and unfussy, the kind of spot where the focus stays on the food and the service moves quickly. Diners have noted the kitchen is still refining its expanded offerings, so this is a place that rewards an open mind and a willingness to try the core Taiwanese breakfast staples. It works well for solo breakfasts, casual family meals, and groups who like to share several dishes at once.

Six Ping opens early, serving from 07:30 to 14:30 most days, with a focus on breakfast and lunch rather than dinner. It is closed on Wednesdays, and open the rest of the week. If you are searching for authentic Taiwanese breakfast in Houston, this Chinatown mainstay is an easy recommendation for anyone craving familiar flavors, hearty portions, and a relaxed, welcoming room. Come hungry, plan to share, and arive earlier in the day to catch it at its best.

Welcome to the iconic Six Ping, a beloved Taiwanese bakery that has delighted Houstonians with its Taiwanese-style cakes and pastries for decades! Now, the bustling original location in Chinatown has expanded its menu to include delightful Taiwanese-style breakfast and street foods. Perusing the menu is like stepping back in time, evoking sweet childhood memories of enjoying steaming bowels of hot peanut rice milk, pancake with fried eggs, tea eggs, and delectable rice balls for breakfast. Each bite is a comforting taste of home—so simple, yet so authentically delicious. The friendly and efficient staff making my family feel warmly welcomed. It's exciting to know that a treasure trove of my favorite childhood foods and drinks is just a short drive away. Treat yourself to a culinary journey at Six Ping, where the flavors of Taiwan come alive right in the heart of Houston!

we went here just to get some taiwanese breakfast meals. restaurant has a really homey vibe, food was tasty! we loved the seasoning on the 排骨, it really felt like we were back in taiwan at the street vendors. the 咸豆花was also tasty, soft and milky, with just the right amount of seasoning.

Decent Taiwanese breakfast place with various options. Pork braised rice was good for the price and portion. Sesame pork noodle was too mushy and lacked flavor and meat. The scallion pancake with fried donut lacked flavor. The soy milk was large portioned and acceptable. Probably the most off putting part was the sewage smell when you first walk in. Also didn’t help the waitress doesn’t speak Mandarin and couldn’t answer some basic questions about ingredients. She had to get the owner to help a few times (owner was extremely kind and helpful, I gotta say). Giving them four stars because they’re just starting out. Husband thinks it’s more like 2.5 stars.

Drove all the way from Florida and discovered this gem. A truly authentic Taiwanese owned breakfast place with flavors from Taiwan. They are just newly opened so their menu isn’t very refined but contains the core of Taiwanese breakfast. The taste is also very high quality with them making it up to very high standards. Definitely above many that I’ve tasted in Taiwan.

A thoughtfully curated one-page menu in both Chinese and English makes ordering straightforward. Portions were extremely generous—the peanut rice soup and sweet tofu pudding could easily be shared among four. The food was delicious across the board, and the service was exceptionally quick. Despite the small space, the operation runs smoothly and efficiently. I can’t wait to come back and explore more of the menu.
