Small Oven Pastry Shop & Porco's Porchetteria is a sandwich shop at 2204 Washington Ave in Philadelphia, PA 19146, pairing a pastry-shop name with a menu that gives porchetta sandwiches a prominent place. Customer feedback points to two reasons people make a stop: pastries described as bold and distinctive, and porchetta served in several sandwich variations. If you are planning a visit, the posted hours are Wednesday and Thursday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m., and Friday through Sunday, 8 a.m.–6 p.m. The shop is closed Monday and Tuesday, so checking the schedule before heading over can help avoid a closed-door surprise.

The porchetta menu has options with names that build on the original, including the OG and Truffle Pig. One customer enjoyed the Truffle Pig, while another ordered it as part of a Pig Deal Combo with an Italian soda. Reviews also mention the Super Sammie, described on the menu as including over-easy eggs, sage sausage, porchetta, and cracklings, and a meatball sandwich. These specific orders give visitors a sense of the range, from a porchetta-focused lunch to a heartier sandwich with breakfast-style ingredients. Menu items and preparations may change, so confirm current offerings when ordering.

Pastries stand out in several customer accounts, with one visitor saying they would make a point of returning for them and describing the selection as bold, unique, and delicious. The available feedback suggests a good fit for people who enjoy trying distinctive baked goods alongside a substantial sandwich, or for friends looking to share a casual meal and a drink. Italian soda appears in one reported combo, though tastes differ: that customer found the flavor not very sweet. As with any small shop, individual preferences about bread texture, seasoning, and sweetness can shape the experience.

The overall customer rating is 4.7 from 437 reviews, alongside a range of opinions worth keeping in mind. Some diners praise the pastries and porchetta sandwich choices, while others report dry sandwiches, firm bread, or an order that did not match their requested egg preparation. One review also describes disappointment with the amount of porchetta in a soup order. These details do not guarantee what any visitor will receive, but they offer useful context: ask about ingredients or preparation if a detail matters to you, and mention a concern to the staff while you are there. For Philadelphia diners near Washington Avenue, Small Oven Pastry Shop & Porco's Porchetteria offers a locally situated stop for pastries and porchetta-led sandwiches, with hours that include weekend service.

Man idk why ya’ll be lining up outside this shop like that. The pastries may be good but the sandwhiches are not good at all. Got the meatball sandwich, the meatball was a block, not soft at all, there was not really any sauce and it was generally dry. It just wasn’t a good quality meatball and the sandwich overall was absolutely mid and mediocre. You may think those sandwiches are good bc there’s always a line but don’t go there man they caught my neck today. I wanted to love it too so I genuinely hope it was just a bad day.

Went with a friend and got a Pig Deal Combo on a Truffle Pig with an Italian Soda. Flavor wise, the sandwich was good, but the bread was rather hard. I think baking it for less time would've been a better idea for them. I also reminded myself why I don't like Italian soda... very not-sweet and not-fizzy compared to American soda. That's my bad, though. Overall, I would go again to try some other options, and probably would bring someone along to show them, but with a caveat or two on what to order.

I would have a hard time coming anywhere near this part of town without stopping back in; pastries are bold and unique, so delicious. The porchetta sandwich comes in many renditions; there's the tried and true OG, with other sandwich varieties and names building off that. I got the Truffle Pig, which I'd get a hundred times over; the subtle truffle mushroom flavor becomes one with that goat cheese spread and sneaks into every bite, but doesn't smother or overpower. The crackling (a crisp but more meaty and dense pork rind plank) included on most of their sandwiches is such a clutch addition and I'll be looking for it in more places now; it doesn't break down or burst into dust and holds up much better than a chip for that extra crunch to a sandwich. Along with the seeded roll, you can tell there has been heavy consideration given to the way texture and crunch can elevate any sandwich. We tried a variety of sweets, too many to name, but the tahini halva blondie stood out to me, and on our way back with the sandwiches I had to chug a very refreshing corpse reviver spritz (juniper berry, citrus peel, elderflower, star anise, lemon seltzer).

I tried the super sammie on a sesame roll which was advertised to have overeasy eggs, sage sausage, porcetta, and cracklings. My sandwich came with scrambled eggs instead of overeasy, which was a little disappointing as my biggest critique was that the sandwich was dry overall; I feel that the egg yolk from overeasy eggs would have improved this critique. Otherwise decent pricing with really great portion sizes.

Really disappointed with the porchetta and fagioli soup I ordered today. I’ve gotten this plenty of times in the past and it always comes with a healthy amount of porchetta. Today, there was not one single piece of porchetta and it was full of crushed tomatoes. I couldn’t take a single spoonful without getting massive pieces of tomato. After I removed all the tomato pieces my cup was barely more than halfway full. Food is way too expensive to not get what you ask for. I’d rather they up the price to $7 if it means getting a decent serving. I know times are hard for restaurants but skimping customers on food is not the way to retain business.
