Visited this store which sells Indian Groceries, also featuring a small dine - in restaurant specializing in some Maharashtrian Fast Food Dishes as well as other popular Indian Fast food like Pav - Bhaji, Pani Puri , etc. The prices of the dry groceries was a tad bit high, but, some Maharashtrian Fast Food we tried were spot on. We had Matar ( Green Peas ) Karanji , Sabudana Vada, Moong Bhaji , Batata Vada , Vada Pav - & - Cutting Chai. Everything was spot on as far as the taste is concerned. The Batata Vada, was flat, as it is commonly made in certain parts of Maharashtra, instead of round in shape, which came with Dry Garlic Chutney & Fried Chilli was also excellent. The only thing that disappointed me was the fact that Moong Dal Bhaji didn't come with either Fried Chilli / Chutney, which would have complemented the dish to a different level. The Cutting Chai was also refreshing in taste. Let's hope they maintain the high level of quality for years to come . I was also eager to try Upvas Kachori which was not available at that time.
Drove 30 minutes to Frisco after seeing some posts about authentic Maharashtrian groceries and food, but the experience was a bit disappointing. The food menu was quite limited, and the vada pav was just average they even microwaved the pav, which affected the taste and texture. I was also surprised that they didn’t stock basic Maharashtrian essentials like kokam, Malvani masala, and chakli. For a store that markets itself as a Maharashtrian specialty store, I expected a much better selection. The staff also seemed a bit confused at times. I think there’s plenty of room to improve before it can truly be called an authentic Maharashtrian store.
I found this store when I was looking around nearby. Visited this store and to my surprise it is kinda Maharashtrian speciality store. Being from Maharashtrian, it was good visit for me. Saw many grocery and packed food from Maharashtra. …
Omg, the food was really good. Freshly made. I tried Vada pav and Mattar Karanji (Green Peas Puff) Very delicious. Would love if u could provide some chutney with it. Also they offer cutting chai (tea)
Good things first: the food is genuinely good and delivers the flavors you would expect from authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. We tried the Misal, Pav Bhaji, Vada Pav, and Poha. The Poha was decent, but everything else was about as good as you can reasonably find in the USA. The reason I’m giving 3 stars instead of 5 is the portion size. For the prices being charged, the quantities felt far too small. At some point, the value proposition just doesn’t add up. A Vada Pav for $4 that is barely more than a few bites, and an $11 Misal that doesn’t even seem to fill an 8 oz container properly, feels hard to justify. The food quality is there, but the portions need serious reconsideration. Unfortunately, the mismatch between price and quantity was such a turnoff that it makes it difficult for me to consider coming back, despite enjoying the food. If the portions better reflected the pricing, this would easily be a much higher-rated experience.
