St. Joseph Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is a nursing home at 321 Centre St in Dorchester, MA, serving people and families looking for nursing and rehabilitation care in the local community. The center’s name identifies both nursing and rehabilitation, making it a place to consider when a loved one needs support in a care setting. Its listed hours are 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Families can contact the center directly to confirm current services, admission details, and how care planning and communication work for each resident. Asking specific questions before a visit can help you decide whether the setting fits your family’s needs.

Reviews describe a range of experiences, so it is useful to read them with care and discuss your own priorities with the center. Some reviewers express gratitude for staff members who offered encouragement, attention, and personal care, and one family described a relative regaining health, confidence, and dignity during his stay. Another current patient praised the support received and said that staff helped him feel cared for. These accounts suggest that compassionate interactions can make a meaningful difference to residents and loved ones. They are individual perspectives, not a guarantee that every resident will have the same experience.

Other reviews raise serious concerns, including complaints about communication with families and the handling of medical concerns. Those accounts deserve attention, particularly for families who want clear updates and timely answers. The listed rating is 3.6 out of 5 from 81 reviews, reflecting varied public feedback rather than a complete picture of care. When evaluating St. Joseph Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, consider asking who to contact with questions, how urgent changes are communicated, and how concerns are documented and followed up. If possible, speak with staff directly and make a visit to form your own impression.

This center may be worth exploring for Dorchester families seeking a nursing home with rehabilitation in its name and round-the-clock listed hours, especially when a relative needs ongoing support in a residential care environment. Before making a decision, discuss the prospective resident’s needs, expected care, and family communication preferences with the center. Ask how the team coordinates care and what information families can expect to receive. A thoughtful conversation can help clarify whether the center is a suitable option. I can't say enough about St . Joseph's and the difference they made in my Uncle John's life. His health was not great when he went in but between the amazing staff and other patients he did a complete 180. St. Joseph's gave him his life ,his spark and his dignity back. The entire staff is amazing, they truly care about the people there and it shows. When we would go visit you could feel the sense of community, my entire family is so grateful for the way they treated my uncle and our entire family.

My mother died at this facility. We were never notified. We got a call after the fact although they knew she was in bad shape. The Executive Director's response was "I'm sorry for your loss" after my family asked numerous questions surrounding her death. She never responded to any questions. The staff does not follow dietary guidelines. The breakfast was not even rarely warm. I have been there when my mother didn't get her dinner and I would let the staff know and hours later, nothing. It's a disgrace.

Please do not put any loved one in this place. My mother was in there and I begged for them to get her fluids and oxygen and was told by a male nurse that he called the doctor 3 times but didn't hear back because it was a Sunday. I told the male nurse I was going to call 911 but he said they wouldn't come because her vitals were fine. My mother passed away 7 hours later without ever receiving the fluids or oxygen she desperately needed. My niece had gone to get her belongings and they gave her another patient's things. She finally got most of her things but many things were missing. I was her proxy and didn't get a call about her passing until 9 a.m and the vm stated please call back about your mother but she's ok. Imagine? She had already passed .She passed at 5: a.m This place is a disgrace and I contacted the Governor and Senator Warren so this does not happen to anyone else. Also she had dinner and asked for tomato and mayonnaise and I had gone directly to the kitchen and I was told the delivery hadn't come yet. So I could not believe there was not one tomato or mayonnaise in the building. It may sound foolish but literally ridiculous that they didnt have either item. I had to go to the corner store for both. It might be petty but it's ridiculous on there end. They never followed my mother's diet of no salt. I wouldn't put a dog in this place. Please do not because your loved one just might not come home due to negligence.

I am a patient at St Joseph's and I'm telling you this is the best place I ever came to I'm glad they sent me here because they have so many people here that care so much about you and so much about your care they help you they give you encouragement and most places don't do that but I recommend anybody that's going to go into rehab to come to this place
