Star Auto Services is an auto repair shop located at 1555 S 10th St in San Jose, CA, 95112. For drivers in San Jose and nearby communities who need a place to address routine maintenance or an unexpected vehicle concern, the shop provides a straightforward local repair option. Its 4.7 rating from 128 reviews shows that many customers have reported positive visits, while individual comments also offer useful context about communication and service expectations. The location on South 10th Street makes it a directory listing worth noting for motorists comparing independent auto repair choices in San Jose, California. For prospective customers, the review total offers a broader snapshot than any single visit, including praise and concerns raised in customer comments.

Customer reviews mention oil-change visits, suspension-related work, and diagnostic questions as examples of vehicle needs brought to Star Auto Services. Several customers describe work being completed quickly, pricing they considered reasonable, and an upfront, honest approach. One reviewer specifically praised Joe for being direct, completing requested work promptly, and charging a reasonable price. Another valued the shop's larger team and faster turnaround in comparison with dealership, gas-station, and other repair experiences. These comments make the business relevant to drivers who are weighing timing, pricing, and a personal service experience for auto repair needs in San Jose.

The atmosphere reflected in feedback is practical and repair-focused rather than a polished dealership-style visit. That no-frills, working-shop character may appeal to customers whose main priority is having a vehicle assessed and repaired. Experiences are not identical, however: some reviewers reported that oil choices were not discussed in advance, or that they could not receive help with a diagnostic-port concern. For a smoother visit, it may be helpful to call ahead, clearly describe the issue, and confirm requested work, preferred parts or fluids, pricing, and questions before service begins. This approach gives both customer and shop a clear plan.

Star Auto Services is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and it is closed Sunday. Those hours give San Jose motorists a weekday option as well as time for a Saturday visit. Whether you are seeking an oil change, following up on a suspension concern, or asking about another vehicle issue, Star Auto Services may be a practical choice to consider. Its public review record provides both positive signals about speed and value and reminders to communicate service details clearly before work starts. It can be especially useful for local drivers preparing questions before scheduling repair work.

Very disappointing experience at Star Auto Services. I came in for a simple oil change, but there was absolutely no communication from the staff. No one asked what oil I wanted, no explanation of what they were going to use — they just went ahead and did it without my approval. They also didn’t ask whether I wanted to replace the oil filter. That’s not acceptable. It’s not about the cost — it’s about basic respect. Customers should be informed and given a choice before any work is done. I felt like my input didn’t matter at all. On top of that, the wait time was ridiculous. I arrived around 3:20 PM and didn’t finish until 5:00 PM for just an oil change. I was sitting in the office the whole time, and no one acknowledged me, gave an estimate, or even showed basic courtesy like greeting me or letting me know what was going on. This kind of service is not professional. Even if the work itself is okay, the lack of communication and poor customer service make the whole experience frustrating. I would not recommend this place unless they seriously improve how they treat their customers.

I had a great experience at Star Auto. Joe is fantastic, upfront and very honest. The work I requested was completed fast and the price was very reasonable. I will definitely be coming back for future needs.

Horrible experience. Where do I begin. I've had suspension work done before with them, and they did a great job at the time. I felt the price was a little high, but I needed the work done. So I went with them regardless.. The first work I got done, I asked for them to bring me all my old parts, and they did. However, when the guy went to pull my parts out of my trunk, he was throwing them on the ground and accidentally scratched my bumper.no big deal, I was happy for the repair to be done. So I let it be. This time, however, I knew for a fact. My car only needed a tune-up. I had taken it to a different mechanic before I came here and had an inspection done and verified it was a tune-up. However, because I was happy with the work They did here before , I came back to this place becausei wanted to give them my business. I brought my car here, and they did the inspection. Upon inspection, they showed me the fualt codes ( assuming i probably wasn't going to know what each code meant) However, I understood each misfire code which all pointed back to it needing a standard tune up. I decided to be quiet and see if he was going to be honest with me on what i needed. Long story short, I was told I had all these problems with my car. And that it was gonna cost anywhere from $4k to $6k and that they would not know until they open it up. I asked if I could just get the tune-up, and he said he recommended me either getting it all fixed at once and pay the $4k or in his opinion it's not worth fixing and I sell it and get something more affordable. $500 later and doing the tune up my damn self with the help of a friend , and my Mercedes-Benz running smooth like day 1. All it needed was a tune-up. No oil in my ECU ( he will know what I mean when he sees this) . To be honest, it sucks because I did like the people here and was hoping I could trust them 😕

The auto service is excellent because 1) it's lower priced 2) They have a big team of people. 3) they get it done quicker than any other small dealership gas station or even big dealership where they will give you a car rental. It looks a little dirty, but when you have a problem, that's the first place you will think of in the future. The owner is nice and intelligent and excellent customer service.
