Sign in to reviewI am from the south and I wanted to love these biscuits but they are meh. I had the chicken biscuit and the chicken was well fried and had some rosemary flavoring in it. The biscuit itself was dense and not fluffy. My southern grandma came with me and she had the biscuit and gravy. The place loves rosemary because they put it in their gravy too. She also was not impressed with the biscuits. Service was great and all the food came out super fast. It was overall a good experience but idk if I’d go back.
I have driven by here many times, but usually not in the morning. I had taken students to Balboa Park and when we were done, I said let's grab some breakfast! Luckily there was parking right in front because it could be a challenge. Friendly greeting and the young woman was excited it was our first time! I ordered a breakfast biscuit but forgot to add bacon, but it was delicious! Those bithkits are sooooooooo good! I love saying, "bithkits"! A couple of my students got the chicken and waffles and just devoured them! After my meeting at Balboa Park, I brought the director and students here. He had never been and wanted to try it. We both got the chicken fried steak and eggs. Comes with a crispy tater tot waffle and generous gravy! We also got a bithkit with it...came with strawberry preserves and butter....soooooooo good! This is a great way to start the day! Great outdoor seating that's dog friendly. There's also a cozy dining room inside. Looking forward to coming back and eating my way through the menu!
Friendly service and amazing biscuits! My friend and I shared a single original buttermilk biscuit, which came with a very good amount of whipped honey butter and strawberry jam, as well as a cheddar waffle with a sausage and a 4oz gravy and grits. We also got their homemade orange juice with rosemary syrup! I enjoyed the original biscuit the most because of how big it was and how much filling was given, but the rest were great as well! The sausage was a tad too oily for me. Everything is made to order, but because we got there at a quiet time, we got our food in about 8-10 minutes. Tables are a bit small, but manageable. There are also a few free parking spots! I will have to come back again to try the rest of the menu, because everything sounds too delicious!
We were visiting Hillcrest and woke up looking for an easy going breakfast spot. Stumbled upon Sunnyboy and such a great spot! Great menu with several options. I had the egg and cheese biscuit (added avo) and hash waffle and it was so good. Also got the Vietnamese iced coffee which was tasty. The guys at the counter were so great and the place is so aesthetically pleasing. Highly recommend!
My family and I stopped here for breakfast as we were very hungry from traveling. The food was amazing. I had the biscuits and gravy with bacon. The bacon was so good and the perfect portion. When we received our food the nice person working the counter offered us a pastry. I chose the banana pudding pastry and oh my gosh it was delicious . It is unfortunate I do not live in CA or I’d stop here often. I cannot wait to come back and try more delicious food.
