Sign in to reviewI recommend SAS 100% to any and all Volvo owners in the Austin area! I live 30 miles south of their location and will take my Volvo XC60 nowhere else for service from now on! I have lived in Austin for over four years and have struggled to find a shop that really knows Volvos, is honest and charges a fair price. My car is my lifeline. I was told by a shop that is closer geographically and advertises how honest they are - that my car needed over $7,000 (or more) worth of parts and labor. I was charged $500 just for diagnosis time - and then given one that was incorrect and did not answer my question. What I’d wanted to know was whether the car had any serious underlying issues. I had no performance issues but the Check Engine light kept coming on even after I’d had it serviced. I was not at all confident in what they’d told me - so I decided I needed to find a shop that truly knew all the issues involved in servicing Volvos. I’d read the reviews for SAS before I went to the closer shop but hoped that the closer one might be as honest and knowledgeable as they claimed, so I gave them a chance. Big mistake. I called SAS and told them what I’d been told. Based upon that conversation I knew I wanted to have them take care of me and my car. I took it in and within less than an hour SAS had replaced non Volvo parts that had been installed by the non Volvo expert shop. This work alone caused the Check Engine light to go off and stay off since that day - longer than it had been off for over a year. SAS also me that I did not need either of the parts or services I’d been told were absolutely necessary (asap) by the local shop. The total cost was what less than what I’d paid the other, non-Volvo specialist shop for the diagnostic time alone. I have an appointment this week to have some preventive maintenance performed and to undo problems caused by one of the other shops using the wrong fluid in one of my systems. The expertise of the owners and mechanics at SAS has calmed my mind about the realistic costs of keeping my car for years to come. I will recommend SAS to anyone I meet who drives a Volvo that is no longer under Dealer warranty.
I had dropped the car off to have the timing belt replaced, as we were just about at 100k miles on our Volvo. They called shortly after drop off, they saw the Volvo label on some of the parts and checked out CarFax, they figured out that when we had piston repairs done by Volvo two years ago, Volvo had also done the timing belt and a variety of other repairs, so no new timing belt needed! They saved me $2,500, WOW! Incredible honesty and thorough work. If I could give them a 10-star review, I would!!!! Kudos, Swedish Auto Service!!!
I was a little apprehensive going somewhere other than the Volvo dealer. I used ChatGPT to list the best options for the specific repair I needed. Swedish Auto was listed as the place to go. Their price was 1/2 of the dealer price. It was done quickly and correctly and I could tell the gentleman really knew his stuff. I’ve always gone to a Volvo dealer. My 90,000 mile was over $1000 and I could tell they lied about doing a tire rotation and balance - never again. Swedish Auto will be handling my Volvo from now on.
Needed a proper shop for my XC90. SAS did a fantastic job with quality work and great repair times. Pricing was excellent for a specialized shop. Total pros. If you need your Swede properly serviced, head up to Swedish Auto Service.
I had a really good experience with Swedish Auto Service. I took my Volvo S90 in for brake pads and rotors, an oil change, and spark plug replacement. The Volvo dealership quoted me over $3,000, but Swedish Auto Service got it all done for $1,600. The work was solid, the staff knew what they were doing, and my car’s running great now. Also worth mentioning, I needed the car back the same day, and even though it wasn’t ideal for their schedule, they made it happen and had it ready when they said they would. I’m happy with the quality, price, and how they went the extra mile. These guys made a lifelong customer out of me!
