Sign in to reviewI had a perm done here yesterday, and this is by far the worst perm I’ve received in over 10 years. I’m posting this review with before and after photos so others can clearly see the result for themselves. The first photo (before) shows that I already had some natural curl and body. The second photo (after) was taken more than 24 hours after the perm, and the result is extremely disappointing. There is no curl definition at all, and whatever natural wave I previously had has completely disappeared. My hair looks flatter, uneven, and feels damaged rather than permed. I wait and see how it settled, but today it looks even worse than yesterday. This is not a matter of personal preference — the perm simply did not take, and the outcome does not reflect a professional perm service. Because of this experience, I’ve lost confidence and will need to find a new hairstylist. I strongly recommend that anyone considering a perm here look carefully at real client results before booking. I wish I had done so myself.
So glad I found Felix!!! Hands down the best!!! Have been getting Japanese Hair Straightening for 15 years and he’s the best I have ever been too!
I spent $80 and drove 40 minutes from downtown, only to get the worst haircut of my life. I always go to Japanese salons for their meticulous attention to detail — the kind of careful, strand-by-strand work you can trust. Unfortunately, Felix, despite being the most expensive stylist in the salon, is not Japanese, and the usual Japanese salon experience — like a shoulder massage — was completely missing. I have a square face, and he cut my hair way too short, making my sharp jawline stand out awkwardly without any framing or softening layers. It was clear that no consideration was given to my face shape or overall look. Worst of all, Felix seemed more focused on talking about the Katy housing market (his real estate side hustle) than my haircut. I didn’t tip, because I was extremely unhappy with how short my hair was, and he brushed it off by saying my hair was already too short when I came in — even though I hadn’t had a haircut in over two months. Now I have to live with this look for weeks before I can fix it. I’ve been to Japanese salons across the Bay Area, Portland, New York, and North Carolina over the past decade, and TGarden is by far the worst. It’s false advertising — charging premium prices for a “Japanese haircut” performed by someone who clearly doesn’t understand the style or standard. Terrible, terrible, terrible.
Felix is an expert on all things hair-related. He assesses my head shape and hair growth, advising me on the best hairstyles for me. During the haircut, he explains each step, making the process educational and engaging. His scissor work is impeccable, and he takes great care with each cut. After washing my hair, he also teaches me how to style it. Truly top-notch service!
Stylist Felix is very talented and also experienced with black/textured hair types. He did an amazing job with my 3c/4a hair, and I was very satisfied with my japanese hair straightening results :)
