Located along the bustling Bolsa Avenue in Westminster, California, Tam Bien Market is a Vietnamese deli that has quietly built a loyal following among locals who appreciate honest, home-style cooking. Situated at 9550 Bolsa Ave in the heart of Little Saigon, this modest neighborhood spot draws diners looking for comforting, authentic dishes at prices that won't stretch the wallet. Whether you are stopping in for a quick bite or picking up takeout for the family, Tam Bien Market delivers the kind of straightforward, flavorful food that keeps people coming back.

The star of the menu is undoubtedly chao long — a hearty Vietnamese rice porridge loaded with tender intestines, savory pork blood curd, and sliced sausage. Reviewers consistently praise this bowl for its rich, meaty depth and generous portions, often noting that a satisfying meal here costs less than five dollars. Beyond the chao long, the deli also serves chao ga, a chicken-based porridge with thicker consistency and tender chicken meat. For those who enjoy Vietnamese charcuterie, Tam Bien Market offers gio thu and cha, traditional cured meats that are staples of Vietnamese cuisine. These items work equally well as a sit-down lunch or as part of a larger takeout spread.

During the Tet Lunar New Year season, the market becomes a destination for holiday essentials. Shoppers can find banh chung and banh tet — banana leaf-wrapped rice cakes filled with savory mung bean and pork or sweet variations — that are difficult to locate elsewhere. This seasonal offering connects the community to cherished traditions and makes Tam Bien Market a meaningful stop for Vietnamese families celebrating the holiday. The deli's desserts also deserve attention, particularly the durian jello pudding topped with cherries and longan, which has earned specific praise from customers for its refreshing, tropical flavor.

The dining experience at Tam Bien Market is casual and unpretentious. Seating is limited, so many customers opt for takeout — the kind of place where food comes in styrofoam containers and the focus is squarely on what is inside them. It is well suited for solo diners craving a warm bowl of chao, families picking up traditional items for a home-cooked meal, or anyone exploring the rich culinary landscape of Westminster's Vietnamese community. The atmosphere is no-frills, but the food speaks for itself, offering a genuine taste of Vietnamese home cooking without pretense.

Tam Bien Market is open daily from 7:00 AM, staying open until 8:00 PM on weekdays and extending to 9:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. With nearly 200 customer reviews and a solid 3.8 rating, the Westminster deli has proven itself as a dependable neighborhood fixture. If you are searching for affordable, authentic Vietnamese comfort food in Orange County — from steaming bowls of chao long to traditional Tet rice cakes — Tam Bien Market on Bolsa Ave is well worth a visit.

I’ve had a medley of take out here as well as had lunch here on the spot from the chao (rice porridge) to cha, gio thu (Vietnamese charcuterie) and other traditional offerings for Tet Lunar New Year (Banh Chung/banh tet - banana leaf rice cakes with savory & sweet fillings). Everything I’ve tried is made in-house and fresh especially since it seems to be busy throughout the day during the times I’ve stopped in. Service is friendly and fast too. This place is great!

Chao, hearty, warm and good- just not my preferred meal. Authentic porrige with blood sausage and intestines, has a meaty taste with a hint of onion. The durian jello pudding here is excellent, it includes cherries and logan. Eat out of styrofoam dishes, but that's alright-easy cleanup for a very casual atmosphere. Tables are placed as an afterthought for people that like to dine and dash. Good experience but I won't be eating it again. Delicious for what it is. :)

Where would you go go to get a big bowl of tasty Chao long for less than $4.50. This is one of the cheapest meal I've encountered where the portion is decent and the food is great tasting. I love this! Highly recommend.

Very small place to sit down for Chao (porridge). I ordered Chao long & ga to go & waited for 20 minutes. Chao long was the best & packed with intestines, pork blood, & sausage. Chao ga was ok not as smooth as Chao long, more rices & thicker, but the chicken meats were so good. Overall great place for Chao long. Lots of vietnamese tourists stopped by for intestines, cha, bo la lot, sausage, be thui to go. Decent price. But expect long line.

This is the 2nd time we have problems with their careless customer service. The first time was scale of less than 2 lbs of sausage, Today we bought 3 lbs of beef x $21/lb without giving us any sauce or anything to eat with, just only beef. It’s so ridiculous as we live very far away from San Diego, we can not come back to get what they missed giving us. If we want to buy beef only, it’s better to buy in Costco for less than half price. My son didn’t know they missed things in there as he trusted them by not checking the bag inside. I am very mad for their very careless customer service so badly, they need to be educated more. Please stop missing things when you sell to customers especially for very far away from your store.
