I had such a great experience at this salon! I came in for a curly cut and left feeling so much more confident in my hair. Alyssa took the time to really understand my curl pattern, educate me on what my hair needs, and give me a cut that works with my natural texture. I appreciated the attention to detail and all the helpful product and styling tips. My curls have never looked better! Highly recommend for anyone with curly hair.

I came to get curl enhancements, which turned out beautifully. I mentioned to my stylist that I wanted color but there was no availability for that, however she stated she could accommodate me. I asked for blonde. She explained that she also needed to color the base of my hair my natural color - I said ok, but still don’t understand why that is necessary if I’m only wanting heavy highlights). I think it was so it would look better as it grows out. I ended up with black haïr not blonde. I can send a pic if you would like. As much as I am thrilled about the way she did the natural curl enhancements, which is much better looking than the roller set, there is not blonde. As a result since I now have black dye, I won’t be able to get the blonde I want. Yes I’ll be back. The stylist was very nice and did a great job with the style and cut. I’ve even recommended her to someone else. However I will not be using the salon for coloring.

I usually don’t write reviews of my hair salon experiences, but today I’m going to—and the experience is still fresh. I had an appointment for flat twists in the front of my head. When I called to make the appointment, I was told the stylist wouldn’t have time to do two-strand twists in the back, and I was okay with that. When the day came, I was running late and called to let them know. I also told them I had already washed and conditioned my hair and only wanted the front twisted. The receptionist said she would let the stylist know. I called back to ask where clients park, and at that point I was told the stylist said a shampoo and conditioner had to be done. I explained that I don’t like other people washing my hair because it gets overly tangled when they do it. When I arrived, I had to wait because the stylist was still working on someone else. When it was finally my turn, she again insisted on shampooing and conditioning my hair. I politely explained that I’ve had bad experiences with salons not properly detangling my hair and causing breakage. I also asked if she washes hair in sections or as one unit, and she said sections. I later realized she clearly had no idea what I meant. At first, she was calm and told me to trust her and that she would detangle gently. That did not happen. At the shampoo bowl, she washed and scrubbed my hair as one big unit, completely tangling hair that I had already detangled before arriving. After conditioning, she attempted to detangle. It wasn’t terrible at first, just not correct. Then after rinsing, she started a second detangling process—and it was horrific. I told her ahead of time that one side of my hair is more fragile than the other. She proceeded to rip and pull through my hair anyway using her shitty detangling combs. I asked her to be more gentle on that side, and she ignored me. She was clearly struggling to detangle my hair, even though she kept saying she wasn’t. She had to run the comb through the same sections over and over again just to get through it. Meanwhile, I never struggle to detangle my own hair because I actually know how to do it properly. Her attitude and energy shifted, and it showed on her face—even though she kept saying “ma’am.” She also refused to use the Denman D38 brush I brought and said she had never heard of it. How do you do natural hair and have never heard of a Denman brush? She didn’t listen, didn’t care about my concerns, and clearly thought she knew best. She kept asking if I was in pain, and the answer was no. That’s not the point. I’m not tender-headed—I just don’t want my hair ripped out. She doesn’t know how to properly detangle natural hair. She didn’t start from the ends and work her way up. Instead, she was doing fast, short strokes directly at the roots, which is exactly how you cause breakage. Flat twists and two-strand twists are supposed to be protective styles. If I’m getting this style, I obviously care about protecting my hair—but she damaged it before even styling it. How is this place called a “texture salon” when they can’t even properly detangle textured hair? I’m tired of stylists who claim to specialize in natural hair but don’t know how to handle it and don’t care to learn. She was also clearly rushing because she had other clients, which definitely contributed to how rough she was and why my hair had to be sacrificed. The style itself is cute, but it’s not exactly what I asked for. At a certain point, I just accepted that I would need to get a proper haircut and style from a real stylist afterward. If you actually care about your hair health—not just how it looks when you leave—stay away from this salon. If you don’t want your hair ripped out or mishandled, stay away. I also observed another stylist working on a client, and she didn’t seem to know how to properly comb natural hair either. Honestly, I should have trusted my first impression and left. The stylist was a shorter woman with short, relaxed/permed hair, and it was very clear she lacks both the skill and care needed to properly handle natural hair.

I have been coming to this salon for a couple of years now with no issues but unfortunately I have had such a bad experience that I have to leave a review. I came in for a silk press but changed my mind to a blow out and trim because of upcoming bad weather. The detangling process post wash was absolutely awful. I came in with my hair fully detangled and in twists but the washing process completely tangled and matted my hair. The stylist (not my main stylist btw) was ripping through my hair so much I could hear it snap, and I watched small pieces land on me. I believe this terrible detangling session was due to how my hair was washed: out of twists and rather aggressively. I have never had such tangling issues when I wash my hair on my own. Then came the blow drying which was somehow even worse than detangling. My stylist used a very interesting technique where they used a brush and only focused on my roots at first? They were using short and quick strokes only on my (poorly detangled) roots. It was so painful you could see it on my face! Afterwards my scalp was genuinely sore. Again, these issues could be alleviated by working in twists. Lastly came the trim which has left me confused. The stylist showed me in the mirror how much she planned to cut off which I agreed to but then proceeded to cut off more than that and then charge me $40. Overall this was a very disappointing and rather confusing experience. I don’t mind continuing to come this salon but unfortunately I will have to try a different stylist.
