About

The Cut Hut is listed on FindALoco in Austin, TX with address, phone, website, hours, and map location. Common services and related keywords include Hair Salon.

The Cut Hut is a well-established hair salon at 911 W 24th St in Austin, TX, serving the 78705 area with straightforward, affordable haircut services. With a 4.5 rating from 237 reviews, this neighborhood spot is known in customer feedback for its experienced barber-stylists, welcoming manner, and practical approach to getting a fresh cut. It has reportedly been part of the community for decades, giving it the feel of a familiar local business rather than a formal, high-frills salon.

The salon appears especially suited to men's cuts and short hairstyles, while reviews also describe successful longer cuts and women's layered styles. Customers mention that stylists listen closely to hair preferences, an important detail for anyone coming in with a specific length, shape, or everyday style in mind. Joanne and Joan are both singled out in reviews for skilled work and years of experience. Whether someone needs a routine trim, a short haircut, layers, or a change that calls for clear communication, The Cut Hut offers a no-fuss option near central Austin.

Expect an efficient, barber-shop-like experience rather than a full-service styling appointment. Reviews note that hair washing and styling are not part of the usual visit, and one customer specifically noted that drying was not offered because of COVID-related management practices. That makes this a useful choice for clients who prefer to arrive with a plan, receive their haircut, and handle finishing touches at home. Walk-in availability, short waits reported by some customers, and budget-friendly pricing add to its appeal for students, busy locals, and anyone seeking a quick haircut without an elaborate process.

The atmosphere comes through in reviews as sweet, chatty, professional, and approachable. Staff members are described as good listeners, and repeat customers point to consistently positive experiences. As with any haircut, it helps to explain the desired result carefully and confirm details such as fringe, bangs, texture, and length before the service begins; one review reported dissatisfaction with a blunt, uneven fringe cut. For a friendly, established Austin, Texas hair salon focused on accessible cuts, The Cut Hut is a practical local stop open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 7 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM, with Sundays closed.

The workers were sweet and chatty, and good listeners about my hair preferences. Pricing is great. They didn’t wash or style—it’s like a barber shop. They seem to mostly do mens’ and short haircuts, but they did a great job with my haircut (long hair) :). This business has been here for decades! The cut itself is pretty quick. I recommend calling ahead to check the wait/ put your name down because I was sitting around the salon on the waitlist for longer than I would’ve liked. However, this was around Thanksgiving, so perhaps it was busier than usual.

I’ve had my haircut there 3 times by Joanne, she’s done an amazing job!! All the ladies in there are professional as well as skilled barber/stylists. I absolutely recommend!

Joan was great! She’s been cutting hair for so long and it shows. I was also surprised by the price too. I would come again :)

Great first experience! Got a women's haircut (layered style) and it was quick and hassle free. No appointment needed, short wait time + very affordable (~$20 with the tip). The ladies there are super nice as well. The only caveat these days is that they don't do hair drying due to covid related mandates, so if you get your hair washed you're going out with wet hair. If you're there only for a haircut, it's all good, just wear a mask.

Asked for fringe bangs and I unfortunately look exactly like Dora. They are too thick, uneven, and completely blunt across. Will be going somewhere else to get them fixed.
