Tim's German Auto

Walked in with my 2017 VW Jetta GLI for an oil change and was in and out in ~30 minutes. Sergio at the desk was great—clear, honest, no upsell nonsense. Correct oil spec, new filter and gasket, fluids topped, quick inspection. Price was fair and the car runs smooth. Feels like a true mom-and-pop German shop that actually knows VWs. Way better experience than the dealership. I’ll be back.

Tim, Rose, and crew were very friendly and communicative throughout the process of getting my starter replaced. They were also very thorough in their inspection of my vehicle, showing me photos of the whole vehicle and letting me know what might need attention soon and what to watch for.

First time using Tim’s. Sergio was helpful throughout the process from our first phone conversation. Providing texts with pics of findings & discussions of clarity what worked was needed for the maintenance of my 535i. I will be back!

I came in today for an oil change, to verify previous work done, and to ensure my car was in good order at the 90K marker. They were busy and short handed. Despite this they worked me in and found that my oil pan needed to be replaced. They were professional, worked was completed in a timely manner, and went the extra mile when they didn't have to. Ill definitely return for future repair & maintenance!

I had a less than stellar experience with Tim's German Auto(TGA). I've added photos of my receipt from TGA along with similar recent work at Autobahn next door. You can make your own judgement on the pricing. Information from the pictures attached: 1) Autobahn VW (Dec 2025 & Jan 2026) - Oil change = 108.83 (3rd photo) - 4 wheel alignment = 198.95 (4th photo) - 1 wheel repair = 150.00 (2nd photo) 2) Tim's German Auto (May 2026) (all in 1st photo) - Oil change = 162.56 - 4 wheel alignment = 270.00 - 3 wheel repair = 1112.15 (370.71 per wheel) - Removing 3 wheels from the car = 222.43 (A tire rotation would remove and rotate all 4 but would have been way less. This makes no sense why it would be this expensive to remove/replace 3 wheels. I had a flat on the front after the impact I removed one of the wheels on my own (then again by discount tire). It was still completely driveable, this isn't the reason I brought it to TGA) 3) I took it in with the concern that I could hear a thud under the car when I pressed the brake moderately. You can see this in the customer notes on TGA receipt(1st photo attached). After picking up the car the same thud exists when braking moderately, this 1,800 spend didn't fix the stated issue. Instead they fixed something else entirely. (see other reviews, seems to be a pattern) My opinions: My first frustration is the pricing, which seems higher than the dealership. I was informed that my alignment was outsourced. I'm assuming it went to the dealership, with TGA adding a $70 markup just for driving it back and forth. My limited evidence for this is the car only logged a 2-mile drive with an average speed of 7 mph(5th photo attached), so it does not appear they took it far. I initially felt uneasy about the price. I thought I was quoted $1,600+, not $1,800+, but I will assume that was my own misunderstanding or bad hearing. Once I paid and sat in the car, the check engine light immediately turned on. We moved the car back into the shop. About 10 minutes later, the mechanic came out, explained that he thought the code was a fluke, reset it, and told me to come back if there were any issues. They gave me the diagnostic output from the computer and it appears unrelated to any of the repairs they worked on. Everyone was polite and professional. I cannot complain about their customer service, and they even gave me a t-shirt. However, after leaving the shop, the engine light came back on during my drive home after getting gas. More importantly, I still have the original issue: a thudding sound when braking. I am giving 2 stars because the customer service was good, the mechanic was polite, and they offered to let me return if there were issues. Despite the kind staff, my confidence in TGA is broken. Getting into a car that immediately throws a check engine light. After paying $1,800 to solve a problem that wasn't the reason I brought the car in, adding a new check engine light issue that now needs to be repaired (maybe not their fault? coincidence?), and the main issue remains unfixed. I will not be returning.
