TL Auto Repair is an auto repair shop on Decoto Road in Union City, California, serving drivers who want a local alternative to dealership service. Located at 1007 Decoto Rd, Union City, CA 94587, the shop is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Its 4.7-star rating from 442 reviews offers useful context for Bay Area motorists comparing repair options near Union City. Drivers can find it along a familiar Union City corridor when arranging weekday vehicle care. Its weekday schedule may be particularly useful for commuters and households coordinating repair needs around a workday.

Customer feedback repeatedly highlights communication as a practical part of the experience. One Kia Soul owner described receiving a detailed digital inspection with photos and clear information, while another customer valued regular status updates during a repair. These accounts suggest an approach that helps drivers understand what is being checked and what work is being discussed before they make decisions. Rather than relying only on a short verbal summary, a photo-supported inspection can give a customer a more concrete starting point for a conversation with the service team. For people who feel uncertain about car repairs, clear updates and documented findings can make a visit easier to navigate.

TL Auto Repair has been mentioned by customers for work ranging from oil changes to more involved clutch, hydraulic, and engine-overheating repairs. A Jaguar F-Type owner shared an oil-change experience after seeking a shop outside a British-European specialist, illustrating the range of vehicles customers bring in. Another reviewer noted access to a loaner car when managing with only one vehicle and described repair pricing as fair. That mix makes the shop relevant to motorists arranging a simple scheduled service as well as those trying to determine next steps after a warning sign or changing vehicle behavior. Individual needs, vehicle conditions, estimates, and availability can differ, so it is sensible to contact the shop directly about the service your vehicle requires.

Reviews also reflect both confidence and different perspectives, which can help local drivers set practical expectations. One customer reported a positive warranty experience for an overheating repair and described a three-year warranty covering parts and labor; another review raised concern about a clutch-and-hydraulic estimate. Reading the details, asking questions, and requesting an estimate remain important for any repair decision. Calling ahead can also clarify timing, recommended next steps, and the shop's current capacity before planning transportation around an appointment. Whether you need routine maintenance or are addressing a specific mechanical issue, TL Auto Repair is a weekday option for drivers in Union City and nearby communities looking for an auto repair shop with customer-reported inspection updates, repair communication, and a convenient Decoto Road location.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had an outstanding experience at TL Auto Repair, located on Decoto Rd in Union City, CA, on February 23, 2026. I brought in my 2019 Kia Soul, and from start to finish this shop absolutely delivered. Communication was top-tier. I received a detailed digital inspection with photos and clear explanations, making it easy to understand what was needed and why. There was no pressure and no upselling—just honest, transparent recommendations. That level of clarity builds real trust, and TL Auto Repair truly nailed it. The follow-up was just as strong as the service—professional, responsive, and respectful of my time every step of the way. You can tell this is a shop that takes pride in both the quality of their work and how they treat their customers. The pricing is very reasonable, and everything was handled with full transparency, which I really appreciated. If you’re looking for a reliable, honest, and well-run auto shop in Union City, stop searching—this is the place. Special thanks to Manuel for the excellent service and professionalism. I will absolutely be back and will be recommending TL Auto Repair to anyone who asks.

Overall, my experience with T&L was great. I am always skeptical with independent shops but hate going to the dealership for any service. The fact that they offered a loaner car was next level on its own since I only had one vehicle. They provided status updates and their repair costs were fair. Fortunately and unfortunately, my repairs went through an extended warranty provider so it has its pros and cons. T&L did the heavy lifting and communicated on my behalf so it was painless. They also suggested a few preventative repairs so I didnt need to worry in the future. Turn around time was decent for the type of repair that was done. Upon return of the vehicle, I noticed sounds coming from the front driver's side area so I took it back to T&L and had a road test with a tech. Although they couldnt find the issue (nor did the issue occur during testing) they gladly took my car in and rechecked everything. I will be taking other vehicles here for repairs in the future. Great job guys!

TL Auto Repair performed an oil change on my Jaguar F-Type. I was nervous at first, because I only took my car to a mechanic who specialized in British-European autos--but he has since retired. Therefore, I had to find another shop. I called around and was impressed with TL, because when I asked what kind of oil and brand they would use on my car, they had the right answer. They also had to order a special filter which I appreciated; they did not rely on simply using generic parts for my baby. I was able to get an appointment very quickly, and the car was completed in a few hours. They noticed that the rear brake pads were pretty worn down and offered to repair them before I picked up my car. (My former mechanic had previously warned me about the pads getting low, so I knew TL was on the up-and-up.) They had the breakdown of the problem, what they would do to replace and install the pads, and the full price. I opted not to have them repair the brake pads at that time, but I know I have to get them done soon! I LOVED the step-by-step instructional video on what to do when you arrived at TL. I knew exactly where to park my car and in which door to enter the establishment. SO HELPFUL! It is often confusing when you arrive at a busy auto repair shop, because oftentimes, you don't quite know where to park until someone comes out and guides you. Such a nice, thoughtful touch. My only quibble with TL is that when my husband and I entered the office after following the instructions, there was no one there to immediately assist us, and no bell or indication of how to get help. We weren’t sure if anyone was aware of our arrival, and we waited several minutes before someone came in. A simple improvement would be to add clear signage letting customers know that someone will be with them shortly, so they don’t feel unsure about whether to wait or return to the car drop-off area. Overall, friendly, communicative folks and a VERY positive experience.

This is an honest review to help others who require auto repair. This was my experience at TL Auto... I walked in and asked for a quote for my WRX, a clutch and hydraulic replacement, and was given an estimate of over $6,000! After doing some research and checking with local Subaru specialists such as PM Autoworks, I found that TL's pricing was nearly double the market rate for both parts and labor. Unfortunately, TL Auto quoted $4,242.99 just for the clutch replacement, WITHOUT a flywheel resurface or a flywheel. PM Autoworks quoted $2,058.09 for the same job WITH an OEM flywheel. In my case, TL Auto is applying HUGE markups on basic OEM hardware. For example, TL auto charges $942.87 JUST for a "Genuine" clutch flywheel, AND $948.94 for a clutch kit, which comes out to $1,891.81 for BOTH. Fortunately, PM Autoworks charges $921.68 for BOTH the OEM clutch and OEM flywheel, and other parts that make up a clutch kit are also included in the price. TL quoted over $1,700 for the replacement of the master/slave cylinders. I was able to source the high-quality Japanese OEM parts (Seiken/Nabtesco) from PartsGeek for $280.10, and PM Autoworks charges 2 hours of labor (inquired after the quote) instead of the 4+ hours implied by TL's quote. By going to PM Autoworks instead of TL Auto, I am saving an HONEST $4,000 for the same work!! In my case, the price difference isn't just a few hundred dollars--it's thousands! If you work hard for your money, I strongly recommend that anyone, especially Subaru owners, AVOID the "general repair" markups at TL Auto. I got the work done (and then some) on my WRX by PM Auto. For all the work performed, the total was UNDER $3k! (Invoice in picture). It only took them 6 hours--straight up skills.

Excellent repairs and very good warranty which covers both part and labor for 3 years. It says how much confidence this shop has to its work. And most importantly the shop honors its warranty without hesitance. I just got my car's engine overheating repair done free of charge after 18 months later. Highly recommended.
