We had such a great experience at Tokyo Cowboy! We decided to check it out since it was right near our hotel and it didn’t disappoint. The food was delicious, and the service by Cody was great. Everything we ordered was flavorful and well prepared, and the whole experience made for such a great night out. If I have to make any complaints, it’s that it was a little hot, the space is small, and the music could have been better. Nothing too serious, so I would it’s definitely a spot I’d recommend and would happily come back to!
Back in San Antonio and first stop, Tokyo Cowboy and dinner was served! After settling into our Airbnb, Tokyo Cowboy came up highly recommend. I’m glad they had room for us but, it’s still safe to make reservations. We did not know they are a tapas style restaurant, but that didn’t deter us. And we were pleasantly surprised at the size of their “tapas”. What we ordered was enough for two people to share. Dumplings - 9/10 Gulf Shrimp & Noodles - 10/10 Blistered Green Beans - 10/10 Ramen - 9/10 Service was great. It’s a casual atmosphere, but perfect for an intimate date night.
Overall enjoyed the restaurant! My only complaints were the bao buns were dry, lacking in sauce and to only having pickled things on top caused the bun to taste dry! My partner said the crab roll didn’t taste much different than any other. The meals weren’t bad overall but we expected a bit better for flavor! We also noted they say it’s family style dining but do not serve family style portions. When I hear family style I think large enough portion for multiple people but it really was a normal sized meal for one. A large let down as the cost doesn’t match the portion. The drinks were not bad at all! Reasonably priced and love the Asian twist to them! The atmosphere itself was nice and intimate and the staff were kind!
Our waiter was Cody and he was AMAZING! My husband and I had my 22nd birthday lunch here with our family at Tokyo Cowboy, he went above and beyond and even took care of a few of our drinks for my birthday! The food felt so close to the actual food in Japan when we went for our Honeymoon. Super authentic with a good twist! And the interior was gorgeous. The dessert they had was delicious. We highly recommend this beautiful restaurant!
Our waiter Cody was absolutely amazing. He was patient with our many questions and small requests. Beautiful atmosphere whether you're on a date, with your gal pals or family. The seared Korean chicken salad was yummy the kimchi vinegrette made every morsel pop. The brisket eggrolls were also very tasty, the jalapeño ranch dressing was finger licking good!!!
