This girl does terrible work. She cannot trim correctly, she did not give me a hair treatment even though that was included in the package I paid for and then proceeded to say the fake “silk press“ she gave me was stiff because my hair was dry. If my hair was dry and I paid you for a hair treatment, why didn’t you treat my hair, so that it wouldn’t be dry? I would never go back there again and I would recommend others who may suffer from damaged hair to NEVER go here because she does not have the knowledge on how to treat or style damaged hair and her lack of skills is an abominable waste of time and money. If you are looking for a true silk press do not go here. You will get a basic press and curl that you could do better at home.

Mika's salon was peaceful and quiet. I went in for a silk press but didn't get a traditional one. She doesn't set her silk presses at all (not a good thing), and 'just uses silkening drops'. My primary concern for coming into the shop was my hair feeling dry and having split ends. Because I bought the Level Up Silk Press I expected some kind of hair treatment for the dryness since a treatment is included, but I only got a shampoo and conditioning. When I asked what treatment my hair needed she told me it didn't need one at her discretion. I asked about Keratin or olaplex as options for the treatment and she told me no to that because my hair wasn't breaking off in her hands so she thought I didn't need anything like either. Throughout the salon experienced I'd ask for advice about products, and asked what products she had used on my hair but she didn't tell me. She kept telling me to "use the products that work for me" but I told her the ones that I've been using DON'T work for me and that's why I saw a professional (her, Mika, at Top Level Beauty Bar). She had no suggestions for what products for me to use. I left as lost as I came in. It didn't feel like a professional service at all. When my hair didn't look quite silky and didn't really move as expected, I asked her if the "plastic wrap step is what gives it the body that everyone always has after getting a silk press" she told me 'no, it's how we curl it that does it. I don't to the plastic wrap anyway..." and explained a bit about how to her a silk press is only different than a regular press by adding silkening drops to your hair while pressing. "You're done" and told me my hair was finished. She was satisfied, but I was dismayed. Because my hair was loosely curly I (with my mom on the phone) had to ask her to actually straighten it as expected from a getting this service. To me, her silk presses aren't real silk presses since they're not a set at the end. My hair was only wrapped (into a wig cap to wear out onto the street) after complaining about her not doing the plastic wrap method & it being an unhappy surprise to me- and calling my mom about it. The Level Up Silk Press is just a press and curl by another name, with no treatment included and a head full of split ends in my case. I told her multiple times that "I don't care if I leave here looking like an emo hair cut as long as all my hair is trimmed so that it is healthy and gets rid of all the split ends." I told her my hair felt crunchy when the silk press was done, but she didn't feel it. I left with split ends still in my hair when I got home. This was a hundred dollar over glorified press and curl which was not done well. Having split ends all over my head and primarily in my bang was stressful to see when that was my primary concern which I mentioned over and over-- my hair had a lot of split ends for the first time ever and I was very concerned about it and dry, and this concern was not resolved here at Top Level Beauty Bar. She did at least tell me how not to ruin my silk press: don't get it wet, don't brush my hair often, don't let my scalp sweat. PS. Her scheduling system keeps sending me requests to pay despite paying in person on the POS system. Just a bug that needs to be worked out.

Hands down Meka is the BEST hairstylist I've been to!!! She's so nice, professional, gentle on my hair, explains everything thoroughly and made me comfortable both of my visits. I'm a new customer and so excited I finally have a hair salon I can go to permanently! She's the best!!!!❤️ Also, she does my mom's hair. I love everything she does!!! My mom's hair is growing, and she loves the way Meka does her hair❤️UPDATE: March 2024: I currently still go to Meka, along with my mom for our haircare. Not only does she specializes in braids, weaves, wigs, frontals, men's hair...etc...She's AN EXPERT on natural hair care!!!! My hair was so damaged when I first met her, and I was so discouraged and wanted to cut it off. But, she reassured me that she will have my hair back to a healthy state and she did!!! My hair is fuller now, and consistently growing. Also, my mom's hair was damaged, but after getting it treated by Meka, it's growing and getting healthier. I referred some of my coworkers to Meka, because she's so gifted with her hands, very professional, very caring and a perfectionist in hair care, make up, nail care and fashion! I can go on and on, but her actions speak for themselves!!!! She's amazing, and I'm glad I chose her to be my hairstylist!!! It's been almost 2 years and counting!!!❤️You won't be disappointed!!!! Thank you Meka for everything you do!!! It's not easy, but you manage to do it so well!!!

First time going today and the experience was phenomenal. My new stylist Meka was so professional, friendly, kind and patient. The environment and energy was pleasant. And my hair came out way way better then I expected. I was so nervous because I hadn't had my hair trimmed in a long long time and some stylist get scissor happy But Meka showed me how much she was going to trim and in the end she brought out length in my hair that I didn't know​ I had. The trim didn't even phase me. My hair looks beautiful. Thank you Top Level Beauty Bar 💞

TL Beauty Bar specialize in all hair types especially natural hair. Top Level is the only place I get my hair done. Highly recommended!! You will be glad you stopped by
