Sign in to reviewMy family and I visited the Vietnam Buddhist Center in Houston during Lunar New Years in February 2026. This temple is so beautiful and huge! There’s so many beautiful Buddhist statues and even physical descriptions of the history of Buddhism translated in both English and Vietnamese. During mass for New Years, there were multiple performances from their Lion Dance team and local singers. We enjoyed our visit at this temple and would visit again whenever we’re in the area.
Beautiful temple and grounds. So incredibly peaceful and everything is well maintained and visitor friendly. So many statues, and educational and spiritual literature and plaques to read and learn about the temple and religion. The visitor center and gift shop are open 10am to 4pm daily, and have the cutest items you can buy at very reasonable prices. Cash Only - no card readers.
Yesterday was my third time visiting and I really enjoyed it every time! Visiting on a weekday during the workday was wonderful because it was so empty and extra peaceful. The few people around were very kind and welcoming about exploring the temple and the volunteer at the gift shop was super inviting about returning for future upcoming events such as their English events on Sundays. This has become my favorite temple in Houston and even though it's far from me it's more than worth the drive! It feels so immersive, like being in Asia instead of Houston. I look forward to returning again and again and to continuing to support the gift shop.
Temple with lovely grounds and a monumental statue. In front of the statue is a lovely and peaceful pond crossed by a graceful bridge and filled with lily pads, koi fish, turtles, and large frogs. Beyond the pond is a walkway to the main temple with smaller buildings, statues, and carvings about the Buddha on either side. It's a welcoming and contemplative place to visit.
A beautiful and peaceful Buddhist center. The architecture is stunning, and the giant Guanyin statue is breathtaking. It's a great place to learn about Vietnamese culture and find inner peace. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area.
