I would strongly caution families considering this agency, especially if your loved one has Alzheimer’s or dementia. We identified multiple instances where hours and services were billed that did not accurately reflect time actually worked or care actually provided in the home. That alone raised concerns about oversight and accountability. More concerning, however, was the quality and appropriateness of care for an Alzheimer’s patient. While caregivers may hold certifications, our experience demonstrated a lack of practical training in dementia care, including supervision, de-escalation, and safe response to wandering behaviors. On more than one occasion, my father, who has Alzheimer’s, was left unattended. Someone with Alzheimer’s should never be left alone, even briefly, including being left unattended while a caregiver steps away. This led to situations where he wandered or became disoriented. What was most alarming was that the proposed response in these situations was to call the police. When my father walked away, and on another occasion when he went outside overnight and would not come back in, the suggested solution was to involve law enforcement rather than use appropriate dementia-care de-escalation techniques. Calling the police should not be a routine response to Alzheimer’s-related wandering, and it reflects a lack of proper training and judgment for this level of care. Families caring for loved ones with cognitive decline need caregivers who understand how to manage these situations safely and compassionately, not responses that escalate fear or risk. Between the billing discrepancies and the inadequate dementia-specific care, this experience caused significant stress during an already vulnerable time. Families deserve transparency, accurate billing, and caregivers who are truly equipped to care for elderly patients with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Can’t even put into words how wonderful Visiting Angels has been. My mom needed 24/7 care and they jumped into action and had the most amazing caregivers within days. They are extremely communicative and go above and beyond. The peace of mind they have given us is priceless. Thank you for everything.
