What an experience and a plethora of information from Jerry, the good old boy that we met at Watson‘s hat shop for a fitting. We really got a great education from him and Alex. I’m so grateful that we stopped in and learned about the different styles and the hat making business, I love the hats, the measurement, contraption that you put on your head to find out if you have a head shape of potato or a peanut. It turns out both my husband and I are potato heads…. Someday, I want to purchase a beautiful beaver hat and so does my husband. Everybody deserves a good beaver or two. It was great to watch Alex taking such fine care of the custom hats that were ordered. We watched him brush them and steamed them to get them the perfect size and shape. I WOULD RECOMMEND
I purchased a hat 6 years ago and found I was not wearing it because I really wasn't enamoured with the brim style. I spoke with Alex and he had me return it to reform the brim. Alex reworked the brim and shipped it back. I am now enamoured with the brim and the hat! It is definitely my favorite hat! I would recommend Watson's for your hat needs!
I just had these guys custom build a bespoke classic fedora for me from scratch by a Master Hat Maker. They will custom measure your head with a device that, turns out, is over 100 years old. Then they'll start with a shell of high-quality either Beaver or a beaver/mink mix and custom build the hat to fit your head PERFECTLY! This, obviously, is not an overnight process and not cheap. But overall, the final product that I went home with when it was done is amazing! Something that will last the rest of my life and I can "hand down" to my son!
Should've taken photos, but this hat shop was remarkable, the salesperson was very polite and helpful, explained the process of making custom hats. Family paid for the hat and love the thoughtfulness. Father's day gift. Updated, my custom fitted hat.
Alex and company are the BEST custom hat makers in America. They are expensive, BUT WORTH EVERY PENNY! I have three, a classic black beaver and mink fidora, a tan beaver and mink Aussi Rancher, and a black beaver and mink Wyatt Erpp flat top, they are magnificent! Totally worth the investment.
