About
Wiley Post Airport is listed on FindALoco in Bethany, OK with address, phone, website, and map location. Common services and related keywords include Airport.
Wiley Post Airport is a local airport at 5915 Philip J Rhoads Ave in Bethany, OK, serving pilots and welcoming visitors curious about aviation. With a 4.7-star rating from 63 reviews, it has earned appreciation as both an airfield and a place to spend time watching activity around the runways. It is not only a destination for people traveling by air: reviewers also describe a relaxed outing where families can look around, talk about airplanes, and wait for a takeoff. Flight schedules and operating hours are not provided, so visitors hoping to see a particular aircraft or movement should plan for the possibility of a wait rather than expect a show on demand.
For families, the airport can make aviation an approachable subject to explore together. One visitor recommends doing a little research beforehand, then using the visit to notice aircraft and talk with children about what they see. That can turn a simple stop into a free family outing, especially for kids who are interested in planes. Takeoffs may not happen immediately, and the experience depends on what is active at the airport, but the open runway views give visitors something to look out for. It is a good fit for curious families and plane enthusiasts who enjoy observing at an easy pace instead of following a set itinerary.
Wiley Post Airport also appeals to people learning about flying. A reviewer describes it as a great place for a son to learn to fly, while another recalls a family connection to the field through a father who landed a Cessna there years ago. A separate visitor reports speaking with staff at Oklahoma Aviation about a twin-engine jet pilot’s license and says the staff answered questions helpfully. These accounts suggest that the airport is meaningful to learners, pilots, and aviation-minded families, while stopping short of promising a specific training program or service. Anyone considering instruction or licensing can contact the relevant provider directly to confirm current offerings and details.
Visitors also mention the Runaway Cafe, described as a restaurant with windows facing the runways. That setting can add a comfortable place to sit and watch aircraft, including the Chinook helicopters one reviewer recalls seeing arrive, as well as different pilots’ planes taking off and landing. A customer says the restaurant was reasonably priced, though menus, prices, and hours are not listed here and may change. Whether you come to observe aviation, share an unhurried family outing, explore flight training questions, or enjoy a meal with a runway view, Wiley Post Airport offers a distinctive local point of interest in Bethany. Check directly with the airport or individual businesses for current access and availability.

Nice place to go for free. May take while for your kids to see a plane take off. But you can look around and talk about things. Do some research before hand and you have a nice free family outing. If you have a few dollars the resturant is nice but not to expensive.
Great place for my son how to learn to fly
The Rocky Mountain wildfires is filtering our sun set.
Always a great air strip. There's a restaurant call runaway cafe. Windows face the runways. A lot of fun watching Chinook helicopters come in. As well to see differences in pilots planes, take offs and landings.
