Wooden City Tacoma

Reservations are definitely recommended, at least for now until the hype potentially dies down. We got there right at 5 and there was already a line of people with reservations. We waited about 20 minutes, for a table but most people waited a lot longer if they don’t get there right at 5. It’s a little pricey but really not too bad, depending on what you get. The food was delicious! We got the roasted pepper appetizer. 10/10. The flavors were amazing, super delicious. Crispy chicken sandwich was delicious. The chicken was juicy and tender and it wasn’t overly fried. The kids chicken strip basket was a huge portion! But the chicken was tender and flavorful. The spicy land rigatoni was full of flavor. Smaller portion, but tasty. Everything was delicious and we would definitely be back again. Parking is limited, so be mindful of that.

This is the best restaurant in Tacoma, hands down. The quality control is absolutely amazing. They have a delicious drink menu (our favorite is the Old Fashioned, but the Watermelon Sundae is also spectacular). Their food is top notch. The Caribbean wings are a phenomenal appetizer, the pizza is delicious and can always be counted on, and their entrees are cooked to perfection. We’ve been coming here for years and never once had bad service or bad food. It’s always phenomenal! The staff are welcoming and inviting and always remember our faces. Plus, you always know what you are going to get. We’ve had every menu item and love them all. We were worried the larger restaurant would cause it to lose its charm, but honestly it’s just enhanced it. Beautiful new setting, delicious drinks, amazing food, and phenomenal staff. This place is not to be missed.

Wooden City is easily the best meal I’ve had in Tacoma. I came in after a very long work training day and was running a bit late. I called ahead to notify them, and the staff were so incredibly forgiving and welcoming about the delay despite how busy they were. The service was outstanding from start to finish. The Food: Blistered Hungarian Peppers: These were so flavorful and the perfect starter to soak up with the toasted bread. They are a bit oily, but in the best way possible. Jerk Cauliflower: This really hit the spot for me. The spices reminded me of some of my favorite Asian street food flavors. Chicken Schnitzel: This was the star of the night. I have been to Germany and Vienna, and I can honestly say this was the best schnitzel I’ve ever had—even better than the ones I tried in Europe! It was perfectly crisp and juicy, and the tangy freshness of the toppings over the rice was just a perfect combination. Cheesecake: House-made with the perfect balance of sweetness. A great way to end the meal. Ginger Beer: Even the non-alcoholic drinks are high quality. The ginger beer was delicious and refreshing. Oh and I ordered more than I should so went home with leftovers, so it actually is not that costly. The Parking (Important Tip!): The only annoying part of the night was the parking. I arrived around 4:30 PM, but street parking was so difficult that I scouted around the block for 30 minutes before finally giving up and finding a spot in a nearby paid garage at 5:00 PM. With gas prices so high, circling the block is a waste—save yourself the stress and just pull into one of the nearby paid lots. It’s worth the few extra dollars to make your reservation on time, unless you are lucky and find one on the street first go or are not in a hurry. Street parking is free after 6pm or 8pm? Overall, an amazing experience. Shout out to Matt for the amazing recommendations and nice company. I’ll definitely be back here with my husband!

The food was incredible. The ambiance was dark and sexy. Service was impeccable. I loved everything I tried. Do not sleep on the beef tartar. It is fresh and bright and absolutely delectable. The Steak was cooked perfectly. My favorite dish was the beet ravioli. I didn't expect that, but it was just an incredible idea that really paid off. I'm floored by my experience. Fabulous from cocktails to dessert. Chefs kiss!

Absolutely enjoyed my girls night out. The atmosphere is clean warm and unique. The food was great tried a little variety. Would like to return. Recommend.
