I really wanted to keep recommending this shop after an earlier positive experience, but my most recent visit was very disappointing. I brought my 1989 Vanagon in with a specific request: address an incessant oil‑warning buzzer and related cluster issue, and I was clear that this was my priority. After paying over $400 in labor for instrument‑cluster work, the original problem was not resolved. The oil light and warning continued to act up, and the van developed new starting issues that did not exist before the repair. Within days, the van progressed to a crank‑no‑start situation at home. It had to be towed back to the shop, where it started for them, but they kept it for two days and then told me they were too busy to really look into it. I was sent home with a $0 invoice for that visit, but no explanation and no real diagnosis. As soon as I got the van back, the same no‑start problem returned. Follow‑up texts went unanswered. I understand that older vehicles can be tricky and that diagnostics take time, but what I needed was clear communication, ownership of the outcome, and a real attempt to fix the issue that began right after their work. Instead, I ended up with an unresolved warning system, a less‑reliable vehicle, and the feeling that once things got complicated, the shop disengaged. I’m grateful for the earlier good experience and the loaner car they provided in the past, but based on this most recent episode I can’t confidently recommend them for electrical/diagnostic work on older vans.
