AP Dental - East Boston is a dental practice in Boston, Massachusetts, serving patients at 231 Border St in the East Boston neighborhood. For people looking for a dentist in Boston, the practice is a local option for dental visits and care from a team that patients describe as professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Its listed rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 432 reviews. That overall score offers a useful snapshot, while individual experiences can vary, so prospective patients may wish to ask questions about their needs, coverage, and appointment details before booking.
Patient feedback highlights the importance of clear communication and a reassuring manner. Reviewers say team members take time to explain what a procedure involves and what to expect, helping patients feel informed rather than caught off guard. Some describe the staff as compassionate and attentive, and say they felt comfortable during visits. One longtime patient specifically praised hygienist Kaite Manganaro for her care over several years. These comments may be especially relevant for people who feel anxious about dental appointments or have delayed care and want a team that will talk them through the process.
The practice may also suit patients seeking routine dental care and hygiene appointments, as well as people referred for a procedure their usual office does not provide. A reviewer describes coming to AP Dental for a root canal referral, though patients should contact the office directly to confirm which treatments are currently available and whether a referral is needed. Other reviews mention accommodating scheduling, but feedback is not uniform: some patients report appointment delays or difficulties coordinating insurance information. Calling ahead to confirm timing, accepted coverage, and any paperwork can help set clear expectations.
AP Dental - East Boston is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; it is listed as closed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Its Border Street location gives East Boston residents a neighborhood practice to consider when arranging dental care in Boston, MA. Whether you are choosing a dentist for ongoing visits or following up on a referral, ask about the specific service you need, insurance acceptance, and scheduling before your appointment. A thoughtful conversation in advance can make it easier to decide whether the practice fits your preferences and care needs.

Kaite Manganaro is simply the best!!!! For several years, I was a patient at AP Dental in East Boston, and Kaite Manganaro was my dental hygienist. For a long time, I took her incredible level of care for granted, thinking that's just how every appointment is supposed to be. I only realized how truly rare and exceptional she is after she moved to another office and I had a hygiene appointment with someone else. That was the moment I fully appreciated Kaite’s extraordinary level of professionalism, sense of responsibility, genuine patient care, and fantastic communication skills. The East Boston location is very convenient for me, but unfortunately, without Kaite, I am no longer a patient at this location. Thank you, Kaite, for your outstanding work and for always taking such great care of your patients.
The staff is professional, friendly, compassionate and knowledgeable! They take the time to explain what your procedure entails and what to expect so there are no surprises. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at ease. They are also very accommodating with scheduling. The facility is immaculate with all the latest technology. Kudos to the entire team.
I know I was wrong by putting off my dental care but believe me it only gets worse and I looked up all the dentist in the area. I’ve done all the hard work for you now you just have to get over to AP Dental and just let them take over after my first visit. They seem like friends already from walking through the front door. The receptionist makes you feel right at these. The offices are spotless and everybody is there just for you and they listen don’t hesitate. Any longer get over there now.
Unfortunately had a horrendous experience here and the worst experience I’ve ever had at a dental office. This isn’t my normal dental office I go to as my dental office doesn’t do root canals and I was referred here. To start, they pushed back my appointment time twice and then I waited an additional 30 minutes in the waiting room to the point that the receptionist kept going back there and apologizing on their behalf since it was running so late (which I understand, things happen and I’m happy to be accommodating but given the rest of the experience this wasn’t a great introduction to this office). It was very clear that the dentist and hygienist wanted to leave and go home, which I also get but it doesn’t excuse how things went. The doctor gave me absolutely no warning for the numbing needle and it was so painful that my eyes started watering. They didn’t once check to make sure the area was numb after the needle and they didn’t once tell me what they were going to do (very different from my dental office) and just started rushing through it. The dentist repeatedly hit my lip very hard trying to do the root canal (she could obviously feel she was doing this and did not care at all) and they were so rough during the procedure that I was shaking and tearing up which I have never experienced at a dental office. They were bumping into me, dropping things on me, and did not once show that they cared at all. I didn’t feel like a human being in that office. It was excruciatingly painful and I left in tears. This dentist should not be doing procedures, the way they treated me was absolutely disgusting. This has absolutely scarred me and I truly regret ever coming here. The root canal itself was extremely painful and I definitely was not numbed enough which isn’t surprising since they never once checked to see how I was feeling. Root canals are already scary and if I had known how this experience would have gone I would’ve NEVER gone here. It may have been a bad day for them and I truly hope it was just a one time thing and that no one ever feels the way I did. I would never ever recommend ANYONE get a root canal here and I will absolutely never go back. Absolutely disgraceful experience, DO NOT COME HERE. I’ve seen reviews of kind dentists and hygienists but the ones I had were anything but. I truly hope they never treat someone so horrible. Absolutely disgusted.
Tried really hard to work with them to get my insurance info set up after I confirmed directly with my insurance that I would be accepted there. I directly connected them with someone from my dental insurance and offered to continue to help …
