Tucked inside a grocery store on N Main St, Asia Market Thai Lao Food is a beloved Thai restaurant in Houston, TX that has earned a 4.6 rating across more than 1,170 reviews. This restaurant-and-market hybrid is the kind of unassuming hole-in-the-wall spot where the focus stays on the food, and regulars kep coming back for flavors that taste genuinely authentic.

Diners often start with the Asia Sampler, a favorite first order, paired with a classic Thai tea. From there, the menu leans into bold, satisfying plates like pineapple fried rice with two proteins such as chicken and shrimp, green curry with chicken, lemongrass chicken bites, and garlic chicken wings. Portions are generous for the price, and the kitchen happily adjusts spice levels. Order medium if you want to enjoy the heat, or go hot if you want a dish that, as one customer joked, will clear your sinuses.

The atmosphere is straightforward and casual rather than fancy. You order at the counter, and reviewers describe the staff as friendly and professional, happy to answer questions and walk newcomers through the menu. Because it is also a market, you can browse Asian snacks and grab a few extras by the register on your way out. Quieter evenings tend to make for an easy walk-in experience.

Asia Market Thai Lao Food is a solid choice for anyone in Houston craving honest, well-spiced Thai and Lao cooking without the fuss of a formal dining room. It suits casual lunches, easy weeknight dinners, and curious eaters who want to explore a Thai-Lao menu in a relaxed seting. If you appreciate big portions, customizable spice, and a no-frills spot that lets the cooking speak for itself, this Thai restaurant at 3620 N Main St is worth a visit. Come hungry, ask the staff for recommendations, and don't skip the sampler.

I’ve been to a couple Thai/Lao spots in Houston but this is my favorite. The restaurant is inside of a grocery store and there is also a bunch of snacks next to the register that you can purchase. My friend and I started off with the Thai tea and the Asia Sampler. The Asia sampler is fantastic because it’s meant for sharing and I love how you get to try a little bit of everything. I never had cheese rolls before but it was a pleasant surprise! The chicken satay was on the drier side but the dumplings and different sauces that came with were all fantastic. Honestly, for the variety and amount of food you get, the Asia sampler is totally worth it! For entrees, we both got the Kee Mao Noodles with chicken. I can’t remember if I got the spice level as Medium or Hot but either way, I was dying lol. This is one of those places where they don’t play around with the spices- a true Thai place! Even though I was fighting for my life after every bite, the noodle dish had great flavor and I couldn’t stop eating it. For one thai tea, Asia sampler, and 2 noodle dishes, it came out to around $50. Great prices, fast service, and great food- can’t wait to come back!

This is a hole-in-the-wall type of Thai restaurant-grocery store hybrid. I really enjoyed dining here because the food is very straightforward and tastes authentic. I got a classic green curry with chicken — the portions are very big for the price. The curry itself was spicy and creamy but was lacking a strong coconut flavor, which is my usual preference(I’m not sure what type of milk they used). Yet, I’d say this is a great spot for a no-frills authentic Thai meal.

My first time come to this restaurant, my friend was really like this restaurant so she recommended me. I think this place is ok, not really excellent like I expected. Price is high but restaurant is not really fancy or nice decoration. Most of my orders were small just enough for 1 person compared to the price is so high. Taste is ok more sour, spicy and less sweet. Service is ok also

my husband & i visited for the first time on a monday evening, not many people there, so we were able to walk in and place our order immediately. the guy behind the counter was really nice, professional and answered all of our questions about the menu. we had the lemongrass chicken bites, fried chicken dumplings, thai fried jasmine rice w/chicken and the sweet & sour chicken. we also had the green tea & lychee tea, really good! chicken bites were fried a little hard, but still good. everything else was great, we'll definitely try again😋
