The #1 house special combination banh mi was very solid overall. It leans more traditional, featuring cold cut meats rather than grilled options. The baguette had a great texture, nicely crispy on the outside without being overly fluffy inside, which worked really well for this style of sandwich. The flavor profile was on the milder side, which feels more in line with a traditional banh mi. I have had versions that are more bold and punchy, but those tend to be less traditional. This one stays true to its roots and executes it well. A lot of my friends consider this spot to have the best banh mi in Austin. Personally, I would call it a very solid option, even if it did not completely stand out to me. 7.5/10

The food here is good. The baguette is crispy so the sandwich is good. The spring roll is very fresh and go with different sauce. The store doesn’t have many seating area so get prepare for to go. I am surprised that they have hai nan chicken. Definitely will return to try more different items here.

Got #1 for $7.53 which was extra meat. Bread was crunchy. It tasted good but needs more pate and butter. My mouth did not pick up any of those two ingredients which would have really bring the flavors together but not in this case. However the cold cuts had some flavors that slightly made up for it but not quite.

Baguette House in Austin is such a hidden gem. I got the beef banh mi and it was good with super crispy bread, just a little thinner than most banh mis I’ve had, but still one of the better spots in the city. I also grabbed the viet coffee and it was fire, especially after the ice watered it down a bit. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re craving a solid banh mi and coffee!!

My friends and I came here on a Sunday morning so it was pretty busy but we were able to find a table in the back corner. My friends ordered beef bahn mi’s with sugar cane juice and I got the house special combination bahn mi with cafe sua da (vietnamese coffee). The sugar cane juice was refreshing and the cafe sua da had that nice roasted flavor and was strong- it helped me through the drive back to HTX. Speaking of HTX, I’m pretty spoiled with the Vietnamese food there but the bahn mi here is decent! Overall, the food/drinks were good, the service was pretty fast, and the lovely ambiance was full of Vietnamese aunts and uncles having a great time with their family.
