Tucked away in an unassuming strip mall along Graham Road, just off Route 50, Banh Mi DC Sandwich has earned its reputation as a beloved Vietnamese restaurant fixture in Falls Church, VA. With an impressive 4.5-star rating across nearly fifteen hundred customer reviews, this neighborhood favorite draws hungry locals, commuters, and road-trippers navigating Northern Virginia. While its storefront may appear humble from the outside, stepping inside reveals an energetic bakery and deli focused on serving time-tested Vietnamese culinary staples to the community seven days a week.

At the core of the menu is their renowned bánh mì, built upon baguettes baked fresh on-site. The bread here represents the classic Vietnamese bakery standard: a whisper-thin, crackly golden exterior giving way to a soft, feather-light interior that holds up perfectly against savoury proteins, rich pâté, house mayonnaise, pickled daikon and carrots, fresh cilantro, and crisp jalapeños. From classic cold cuts to shredded chicken and chicken floss, the sandwich selection caters to diverse tastes. For offices, gatherings, or larger family meals, Banh Mi DC Sandwich offers a crowd-pleasing "buy ten, get one free" special, making it a go-to spot for bulk orders and weekend feasts.

While sandwiches take center stage, the shop also provides a variety of comforting traditional snacks that transport diners straight to the bustling street food stalls of Vietnam. Customers frequently look out for bột chiên—pan-fried rice flour cakes tossed with eggs and scallions—which is known to sell out quickly on busy mornings. Alongside this, visitors can pick up freshly fried spring rolls featuring a satisfyingly crispy crunch, savory bánh bao trứng cút (steamed pork buns with quail eggs), and an array of grab-and-go delicacies from the counter. While kitchen consistency can naturally fluctuate on high-volume days, the wide selection of authentic bites keeps regulars returning to see what is freshly prepared.

Open daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Banh Mi DC Sandwich accommodates early-morning breakfast seekers and late-evening takeout runs alike. The ordering atmosphere is straightforward and fast-paced, designed primarily for quick takeout. Weekday service tends to move briskly, while weekends can draw longer lines as patrons line up for armfuls of warm baguettes. Whether you are craving an authentic Vietnamese lunch on the go, packing a picnic, or feeding a hungry household in Falls Church, VA, this local institution continues to deliver solid flavors and reliable convenience.

My husband was craving banh mi and I was craving bot chien..and this place seemingly answered my husband’s and daughter’s cravings except mines… they sold out of the bot chien 😔 I also ordered my daughter some fried spring rolls and she enjoyed the crispy/greasiness of them. We did enjoy everything we ordered, even the extremely filling bao with quail egg, which we ended up saving them for tomorrow. The sesame ball was good and we ate one of the banana fritters (it’s fried so it’s also very greasy) while driving home. The true star of this order is the banh mi dac biet 😊 It was soooo good!

Given the high reviews and long wait times, I was very disappointed with my experience, specifically with the chicken floss sandwich. The chicken floss appeared and tasted like the jarred variety available at Asian grocery stores, and the sandwich overall lacked flavor. Additionally, for a price of $7.25, I was surprised to find that pâté was not included and required an extra charge. On a positive note, the bread was excellent—extremely light, airy, and fluffy. However, the overall quality of the sandwich did not meet the expectations set by the high review rating.

This is the best Banh Mi shop around, but their quality is not consistent. The bánh mì taste always misses something, too much of this or not enough of that. We bought the bánh bao trứng cúc (steamed quail eggs buns). It seemed that they were day old and steamed again. The dough was mushy and falling apart. It’s so disappointed because it’s not cheap.

If you’re driving through Falls Church on Rte 50(Arlington Blvd) and blink, you might miss Banh Mi DC Sandwich tucked away in its unassuming strip mall lot—but your stomach will never forgive you if you do. This spot is an absolute gem. The bread here is the gold standard: crackly on the outside, feather-light and pillowy within. If you want a masterclass in flavor, order the BBQ Pork. It’s savory, beautifully caramelized, and balanced perfectly by the bright crunch of pickled daikon and carrots (I love the jalapeño, but it may be spicy for sone). But the sleeper hit? The Meatball (Xiu Mai) banh mi. It's incredibly tender, rich, and comforting, soaking into the baguette just enough to make every bite spectacular. Make sure you grab a few sesame balls from the counter on your way out. They are fried to crisp, chewy perfection with a sweet, dense filling that hits the spot. Finally, you have to try the smoothies. A banh mi joint shouldn't logically have a beverage program this stellar, but their smoothies are shockingly creamy, packed with real fruit flavor, and provide the ultimate refreshing contrast to the savory spice of the sandwiches. It's affordable, fast, and unpretentiously perfect.

A classic! It's now buy 10 get 1 free, cool if you have a family or group order but doesn't stop me from going and getting 2 or 3 when I wanna. Service is quick and solid, especially on weekdays. Food is good..it's a sandwich, y'all get worked up sometimes over the negativity but I like to find the positivity so where you may complain that its changed or its smaller or it's less of something...I say it's good. Simple as that! It's a very chill grab and go location and they have some fabulous nem chua as well. - SpicyAivy
