I stumbled on Banh Mi Saigon while trying to shop at Sun Wing Supermarket on Bellaire — I didn’t even know this place existed, but it might become my new go-to bánh mì spot in Houston. It’s located inside Sun Wing; as soon as you walk through the entrance, look immediately to the right and you’ll see the small sandwich counter. Important note: Sun Wing Supermarket is currently closed for renovations (as of late November 2025) and won’t fully reopen until 2026, but the entrance to access Banh Mi Saigon is still open. Just follow the signs, even though there’s construction happening on the facade. The staff is great — I chatted with Andy, who was super friendly and welcoming. The prices are honestly some of the best I’ve seen: my favorite bánh mì options like meatball, char siu pork, and shredded chicken are only $4.75, and they offer buy 4, get 1 free. Hard to beat that in Houston. I tried the grilled pork bánh mì on this visit. It was fully loaded with meat and generous with the veggies (carrot, daikon, cucumber). The grilled pork was a bit fatty for my taste, but for the portion size and price, I’d absolutely come back — especially to try the other flavors. Overall, a great hidden gem with friendly service, unbeatable prices, and solid bánh mì. I’ll definitely be returning.

I have to say the Banh Mi is legit. I had the Banh Bo La Lop and it the beef was juicy, bread served soft and warm, and the veggies were crisp with the counter-balancing flavor to the beef. Andy has a really chill vibe and knows his video games too. I will have to note the venue is located in a supermarket undergoing renovations. The entrance is confusing with all the scaffolding (I somehow manage to enter the seafood restaurant entrance - twice). But that should be temporary and frankly not the fault of the restaurant. It's ultimately about the sandwich and I have to say it's a good sandwich at an amazing price.

Bought couple of different sandwiches here and oh my the veggies was already gone bad so I had to throw it away. I tried the bbq sandwich first, uhm that was horrendous, meat tastes nothing, just plain meat with no marination whatsoever, sandwich was dry, skimpy on the mayo part, too. Don’t know if I would try the other kind that I bought after having tasted the bbq sandwich, so I’ll just let my family taken them over for me. Yikes, the positive reviews though. SMH. Replying to the owner: lol, seems like you cannot take an honest review when it comes to how your sandwiches are and you used the same lines of response to the negative reviews. Grown a back bone and do better for your business.

Banh Mi Saigon on Bellaire Blvd is a place I truly cherish. Their bánh mì reminds me of the flavors I grew up with—fresh, warm baguettes, savory meats, and crisp vegetables, all seasoned just right. The service is kind and quick, prices fair, and portions generous. For authentic Vietnamese street food, this spot is simply wonderful.
