Boudreaux's Automotive is an auto repair shop at 1617 Gentilly Blvd in New Orleans, LA, serving drivers who need routine maintenance or help diagnosing a vehicle problem. The shop is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed on weekends. Customers describe visits for services including oil changes, tire rotations, suspension checks, battery replacement, alternator failure, and an overheating issue. If you are planning a visit, the shop's online appointment scheduling is one option mentioned by a customer; that reviewer noted the first available appointment was about one to two weeks away, so booking ahead may be useful.
Customer accounts offer practical examples of the work people have brought to Boudreaux's. One driver said the team diagnosed an overheating problem on a 2015 Subaru Impreza before a long move from Louisiana to Colorado, explained the repairs, and finished the work in a timely manner. Another reviewer described getting back on the road within two days after an alternator failure, and appreciated the staff's kindness and the decision not to add extra work. Other customers mention accommodations around scheduling and a battery replacement when a car would not start. These are individual experiences, not a guarantee of timing or outcome, but they help illustrate the range of needs customers have brought to the shop.
The business has a 4.9 rating based on 768 reviews, while the written feedback is not uniformly positive. Alongside favorable reports, one long-time customer raised serious concerns about diagnostic work and how repairs were recommended. That contrast is worth considering when choosing an auto repair shop: ask what a diagnosis includes, request a clear explanation of recommended work, and discuss any questions before approving repairs. Positive reviewers specifically value clear communication, professional service, reasonable pricing, and work completed without unnecessary additions. For drivers comparing mechanics in New Orleans, both the strong overall rating and the differing individual accounts can inform a decision.
Boudreaux's Automotive may suit local drivers looking for weekday maintenance or help with a specific concern, including an oil change, tire rotation, suspension inspection, starting or charging trouble, or an overheating vehicle. Its Gentilly Boulevard address provides a concrete location to check when planning a visit, and weekday hours can help customers arrange a drop-off during the workweek. Since appointment availability may vary, confirm scheduling and the services needed directly with the shop. Whether you are maintaining a daily driver or preparing a car for a longer trip, sharing the symptoms and asking for an explanation of the findings can help set clear expectations before work begins.

I went to Boudreaux’s automotive for the first time for an oil change, tire rotation, and to have my suspension checked. I was impressed by the ease of scheduling an appointment online. The first available appointment was about 1-2 weeks out from initial scheduling. I did not call to see if I could obtain an earlier appointment so I do not know if that is possible. I received appointment confirmations by text and email, which I always appreciate. When I arrived it was very easy to drop off my car, and they let me know they would provide an estimate for suspension if needed. A few hours later received an update via text, preferred communication, letting me know that the car suspension was fine and oil change and rotation performed. When I tell you my parents were relieved and appreciative that the shop let me know my suspension is fine even though I am middle aged woman, I am not joking. They were very worried that I would be taken advantage of as a woman at a new shop, but that was not the case. They answered my questions and explained to me why there was no need to worry about suspension at this time. I opted for an emailed receipt, and I liked the format of the receipt, easy to understand layout - including miles in and out of shop, pricing for services including hourly cost and part prices. Overall I highly recommend the shop.
I have taken my car to Boudreaux's for over a decade and used to recommend them to friends and neighbors. Now, I believe they are intentionally preying on uneducated customers and are grossly incompetent in their diagnostic work. I want to tell you two stories about two different vehicles and judge for yourself (the 2nd one is MUCH worse so keep reading). I brought in my BMW 128i in for a clinking noise when shifting, which I felt sure was coming from the drivetrain. Boudreaux's quotes me for front forward control arms and an ac expansion valve. Sure the noise is not suspension but the trans/drivetrain, I call them and again they insist their mechanic is sure it’s the control arms. Unhappy with their diagnosis, I take the car back and replace the control arms because they are worn anyways, full well knowing the clinking noise will still be there. And of course it is. So I get the car to a BMW specialist who accurately diagnoses the noise as worn dual mass flywheel bushings in the manual transmission, but not an imminent concern. They also replaced my ac expansion valve with an OE part for half the cost of Boudreaux's, and discovered the reason it failed was because when Boudreaux's replaced it last while doing my evaporator core, they used a low quality Chinese part with the wrong size O-rings. 2nd story: My partner’s Ford Escape had a low fuel pressure when hot symptom and we already replaced the fuel pump and a few sensors to no avail, so rather than throwing more parts at it, we brought it into Boudreaux's for a professional diagnosis. After making an appointment over a week out, they had the car for 3 days with no communication. Finally calling them, they never answered the phone, but emailed a request to approve a $1600 quote to replace the fuel pump (which we just did) and fuel pump driver module. She contacts them and asks if they believe the brand new fuel pump is bad? Wouldn’t it make more sense to replace the far less costly driver module first? A quick google search revealed this inexpensive part is easily replaced in a few minutes from the underside of the car near the spare tire via two bolts and a plug. Again, no communication but they email a quote for just the driver module at $700 including 2.5hrs of labor at $160.5/hr. She calls them and asks how they get $401 in labor? They make up a story that it’s necessary to drop the gas tank and take out the new fuel pump to replace the part because it’s inside the tank (it’s NOT inside the tank; on top of that, it’s not necessary to drop the tank to take out the fuel pump on the Escape because it is accessible through hatch under the back seat). So at this point, we realize they are either INTENTIONALLY SCAMMING uneducated customers like women who they assume don’t know anything mechanical about cars, or are GROSSLY INCOMPETENT at the customer’s expense. Frustrated, she cuts her losses with Bordeaux and pays just the $100 diagnostic fee to get the car back (what diagnosis, btw? If they actually diagnosed the car rather than just reading codes, they should have pinpointed whether the issue was the new fuel pump or driver module by testing voltage going to the pump). So then my partner, a female with exactly zero mechanical experience who has never turned a wrench on a car in her entire life, bought the part for $100, crawled under the car and installed it in 10 minutes with a socket wrench and the car was fixed! Tell me again how Boudreaux's calculates 2.5hrs of labor for that job? And if she’d just blindly approved the first quote, she would have sunk $1600 to Boudreaux's to replace the fuel pump again for nothing, with more gouged labor hours. I believe Boudreaux's should be reported to the business bureau and I pray you educate yourself before approving any work so you do not become an unsuspecting victim of theirs.
Boudreaux’s Automotive Care did a great job getting my 2015 Subaru Impreza ready for a long move from Louisiana to Colorado. They quickly diagnosed an overheating issue, explained the repairs clearly, and completed the work in a timely manner. I appreciated their honest communication, professionalism, and attention to detail. They went above and beyond for me, highly recommend, 10/10!!
About 6 months ago my car died on the road due to alternator failure. Boudreaux's had me back up and running within two days! They were quick, kind, professional, and very reasonably priced. They also didn't tack on extra work even though my car could have used it ; ) I didn't mean to wait this long to write a review, but now I can attest that my car has been running beautifully since their work. Thanks, guys!
They were very accommodating to my schedule. My battery ended up being dead when they first started it, so they replaced the battery, gave me a good deal on the labor, and did everything I’d originally brought it in for them to do for free. The only thing I didn’t like was the key box for if you drop off your car overnight. I could fit my whole arm in there, so I decided to put my keys in their hand instead. They say it’s never been an issue, but I have to be careful.
