Boulon Brasserie and Bakery

Despite what the name might suggest, Boulon Brasserie and Bakery is far more than just a bakery or casual brasserie—it is a full-fledged, upscale French restaurant with a very classy atmosphere. The interior features a stunning Art Deco style, complemented by a quite large outdoor seating area. They take their French cuisine and flavors very seriously here. ​The highlights of the meal were exceptional: the escargot served with a unique puff pastry was wonderful, the duck was very good, and the scallop risotto hit all the right notes. My personal favorite was the French dip sandwich, and the lobster mac and cheese was delicious with a remarkably generous amount of lobster. We finished the evening with some fantastic baked goods, including a standout crème brûlée and another tasty pie. A wonderful spot for a great dinner when you are in the mood for authentic French cuisine!

Our dinner at Boulon Brasserie and Bakery was exceptional from start to finish. We began with the oysters and charcuterie board, both of which were fresh, beautifully presented, and the perfect way to start the evening. The charcuterie board featured a wonderful selection of meats, cheeses, and accompaniments that paired perfectly together. For our entrées, we enjoyed the scallop risotto and the Red Snapper Amandine. The scallops were perfectly seared and tender, and the risotto was rich, creamy, and full of flavor. The snapper was cooked flawlessly and complemented by a delicious sauce that let the freshness of the fish shine through. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and showcased the kitchen’s attention to detail. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet comfortable, and the service was attentive, professional, and welcoming throughout our meal. Boulon delivered a dining experience that exceeded our expectations, and it’s easy to see why it’s considered one of Tampa’s top restaurants. We can’t wait to return on our next visit to Tampa. I don’t know what all the hype is about. The food is okay but certainly not 5 star. The French Onion soup was the high point of the evening. My husband had the hamburger which was just a burger and fries, nothing special and not juicy or flavorful. I was excited to try the Coq au vin but it too was very dry and quite bland. The desserts were good and our server, Grace was amazing. She was very attentive, made great recommendations and was a true professional. The drink menu is pretentious and cumbersome but the drinks themselves were average at best for $18 a drink. If presentation and trendy is important to you than this is your place but if you’re looking for an amazing meal at a good price point this may not be the best choice.
