About

Break Bread is listed on FindALoco in Portland, OR with address, phone, website, hours, and map location. Common services and related keywords include Sandwich Shop.

Break Bread is a sandwich shop at 101 SW Main St #125 in Portland, OR, serving sandwiches for downtown lunches. The details available point to a straightforward neighborhood stop: choose a familiar favorite or build a sandwich with your preferred fillings, then enjoy it in a setting that reviewers describe as busy around midday. Break Bread has a listed rating of 4.7 from 419 reviews, while individual experiences vary, as they do at any restaurant. Customers mention fresh, generous food and welcoming service, alongside comments about busy periods and prices that may feel a little high for some orders. That mix offers a useful picture for anyone deciding where to eat: expect a popular lunch spot, and consider ordering ahead if timing matters, while keeping in mind that one reviewer reported a wait for advance orders during a particularly busy visit.

The menu examples in customer feedback include a pastrami sub, a banh sandwich, and a build-your-own combination with turkey, ham, and salami. These reports give sandwich fans a sense of the range without suggesting that every filling or combination is available every day. One guest enjoyed splitting a large banh sandwich with a friend, while another described a pastrami sub as tasty and said the overall meal was good. Bread gets particular attention: reviewers call out Dutch Crunch as an appealing option, and one customer said it was worth trying toasted even though toasted bread is not usually their preference. Since tastes differ, these are best read as firsthand suggestions rather than promises about a particular order.

Customers have also mentioned gluten-free bread, with one review noting a $0.50 extra charge and appreciating that the bread contained no egg. Another review noted a $0.50 charge for Dutch Crunch. These details may help guests plan, but ingredients, availability, and prices can change, so anyone with dietary needs should confirm the current options directly with the shop before ordering. Reviews also describe attentive staff, helpful recommendations, and a clean dining area; other feedback reflects a crowded lunch rush and differing opinions on value. For a quick meal, a catch-up with a friend, or a customized sandwich, Break Bread may suit people who like having bread and filling choices. The customer accounts suggest arriving outside the busiest stretch could make for a calmer visit, though the restaurant does not publish a wait-time guarantee here.

Break Bread is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and closed on Saturday and Sunday, according to the provided hours. Its downtown address is 101 SW Main St #125, Portland, OR 97204, United States. That location and weekday schedule make it an option to consider for lunch during the workweek; check current hours before setting out, especially around holidays or schedule changes. If you are looking for a Portland sandwich shop with customer-reported choices such as pastrami, banh sandwiches, build-your-own fillings, Dutch Crunch, and gluten-free bread, Break Bread is a practical place to explore. Reviews highlight both the appeal of its sandwiches and the realities of a busy lunch service, helping set expectations for a visit.

Decent pastrami sub, tasted pretty good, price is perhaps a little high for what it is. But overall it was good. I took gluten free bread to which was great ! (No egg in the gluten free bread either)

A genuinely excellent restaurant that gets the details right. The food was fresh, generous, and absolutely delicious. The staff made us feel welcome and well looked after throughout. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. Our server's recommendations were spot on. Everything was spotless and thoughtfully laid out. The value for the quality and care was outstanding. The consistency is remarkable, and that reliability keeps us coming back. The portions were generous and the quality was outstanding. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. The atmosphere added so much to the overall experience. Highly recommend to anyone in the area.

I had lunch with a friend here today and split a large banh sandwich. It was good and tasty and really like the Dutch Crunch bread (+0.50 - extra, they had gluten free bread too for +0.50 as well). There was a steady steam of people from about 11:30a - 12:30p. When I ordered, around noon or so, I asked how long it would take for the sandwich and was told about 15-20min... they got it to me in about 10mins :-). Nice place and decent selection of drinks to pick from.

My daughter recommended this place. Seems like a popular spot considering the lunch crowd. Had the build your own with Turkey, Ham, and Salami. I don’t usually like my bread toasted, but it wasn’t bad. I’d give it a 3.5 out of 5. Still haven’t had a better sandwich than Taste Tickler.
