Bún Bò Huế Mợ Lan is a Vietnamese restaurant located at 13123 Brookhurst St in the heart of Garden Grove, California. Specializing in the bold, aromatic flavors of central Vietnamese cuisine, this neighborhood spot has become a destination for anyone searching for authentic bún bò Huế in the greater Little Saigon area. With a 4.1 rating from 68 reviews, the restaurant continues to win over diners who appreciate rich broth, generous portions, and honest, satisfying food.

The star of the menu is, of course, the bún bò Huế itself. Customers regularly describe the broth as deeply flavorful, with a pronounced mắm ruốc (fermented shrimp paste) base that sets it apart from other versions found across Southern California. Each bowl comes loaded with fresh vegetables and herbs, giving diners the chance to balance the richness with crisp, bright flavors. For those who want to customize their experience, lime wedges are provided so you can adjust the taste to your liking.

Beyond the signature noodle soup, Bún Bò Huế Mợ Lan offers a few other items that keep regulars coming back. The cockles, particularly the Sichuan cockles, are frequently praised by reviewers as a standout. The bone marrow is another popular order — served in three generous pieces for just $4.99, it is a favorite among diners looking for a rich, indulgent treat at a very fair price. It is worth noting that the restaurant operates on the same premises as a sister establishment called Ốc A Chảy, so if you have visited before, you may recognize the shared space.

The atmosphere at Bún Bò Huế Mợ Lan is casual and unpretentious, in keeping with the many beloved Vietnamese eateries that line Brookhurst Street. Service is fast and attentive, making it a practical choice for a weekday lunch or an early dinner with family. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM and closes on Wednesdays. A few customers have mentioned that the location can be a little tricky to find the first time around, since the signage is subtle and the space is shared, but once you know where to look, it becomes an easy stop on your regular rotation.

Bún Bò Huế Mợ Lan is an excellent choice for fans of central Vietnamese cuisine, noodle soup lovers exploring the best of Garden Grove, and anyone who values big portions at reasonable prices. Whether you are a longtime local or visiting Southern California for the first time, this restaurant offers a genuine taste of Huế right on Brookhurst Street. Come hungry, and do not skip the cockles.

Bun Bo Hue (Beef Noodle) is the best in SoCal. They give you a lot of vegetables. Rich broth delicious. Their cockle is really good, especially Sichuan cockles

The actual location is the same as Ốc A Chảy so don’t go to the old address which is at the car shop…I lost once when I came there. There bún bò huế is at a richer broth type with stronger mắm ruốc flavor…i got the BBH mỡ nổi or sum and it’s pretty good. I will come back for other dishes. The menu looks very good with lots of options.

I was truly surprised by the shop's spectacular transformation. After my last visit left me disappointed, I decided to give the place a second chance—and I simply couldn't believe the difference. I both dined in and ordered takeout, and the quality was consistent across the board; it is clear that the owner has put their heart into the business and truly listens to customer feedback. When I placed my takeout order, they followed my specific instructions perfectly—the meat was delicious, the tendons were excellent, and the pork feet was cooked to just the right tenderness (though there were still a few stray hairs). In particular, they were very meticulous in preparing the accompanying fresh herbs and dipping sauces. Thank you for making these changes and for providing me with such a wonderful meal at such an affordable price—especially in these times of inflation.

We got highly recommended this place by friends and family. We were so excited when we came to LA. First, location is really difficult to find, we drove 3 rounds and Finally found the restaurant. They shared the ownership with another Coffee shop I think so you would barely see the sign from distance. The tables with high chairs are not comfortable especially when you are going with the little ones. We ordered Bun Bo Hue Mo Lan which likes a combination topping with pork slices and beefs. The soup is not too spicy. But honestly it’s not my preferable place. I think it’s good, nothing standing out.

Had the bun bo hue and the bone marrow here! Huge portion for a good price! Bone marrow was $4.99 and I got 3 pieces of bones filled with delicious marrow. Service was fast and attentive. I hear others say that the broth is salty but I find it pretty flavorful. You can use the veggies and lime to balance it out. I'll be back again!
