Cafe M is suited to an unhurried breakfast or lunch rather than an all-day dinner stop. It can be a natural choice for people shopping nearby, visitors spending a weekend morning in Berkeley, or locals meeting friends over pancakes, French toast, coffee, and a fuller savory plate. The limited daytime hours are worth keeping in mind, particularly for late lunch plans. Sign in to reviewOne-line: Decent tasting but overpriced breakfast option in location with few options. No tap payments. I didn’t have to wait at all on a Sunday to get a table at this family owned diner. Even though the waitress was a little busy to give me a menu, the busboy brought one over to me. She came over promptly and took my order. She was personable and did not hover in that typical American style, which I appreciated. I had a craving to Denver omelette and my order was the closest approximation to one. The food did not satisfy the craving (the ingredients seem to be sautéed and they really should’ve been closer to raw) but that’s no fault of the restaurant. They only had the ingredients they have. I found the fresh fruit bowl to be tasty, with a nice mix of berries and pineapple. Having said that, breakfast for one person being almost $40 including tip, which would’ve been nearly $50 had I had a drink as well, is crazy. Especially when the food was really only kind of mid. Then, there aren’t even tap payments. I won’t be back.
This cafe has such a homey vibe. Literally everyone on the staff is as friendly and professional as can be. The food is delicious and even with the place packed, we didn’t have to wait for a table. Not much waiting involved at all. I highly recommend the French toast and the blue corn pancakes! A great gluten free option and you can add different fruits on top or in the batter! I will definitely be back and telling my friends.
We had a delightful day exploring the charming stores on Fourth Street. After wandering around, we stopped at Cafe M for outdoor dining. The food was absolutely delicious and made our experience even better. Highly recommend!
The classic French toast were so good. Just the right level of sweet. Would have loved if they were a bit warmer but overall 10/10 on the flavour and the butter with it was chefs kiss. Their wet burrito was also so so good. Also like the cappuccino was actually a cappuccino and not a latte masquerading as one. The parking was easy. And the customer service was AHMAZING. Will definitely be back.
Whenever I am in town, this spot is always on my must visit list. The food never disappoints and every meal is consistently full of flavor. I also enjoy bringing friends along so they can experience it too. It is one of those places you confidently recommend because you know it will always deliver a great experience.
