Sign in to reviewAight let me put y'all on game. As a caterer, finding a good wholesale spot can make or break your business. Restaurant Depot cool, Costco cool, but Canton Food Co downtown? That's where I do real damage on supply runs. I been shopping Canton off and on for bout three years now. They been in business since 1969, right there on South Alameda, and you can tell they know what they doing. The warehouse is huge, like 100,000 square feet huge, and they carry damn near 2,000 different products. Meat, poultry, canned goods, dry goods, frozen, dairy, seasonings, sauces, paper goods, all of it under one roof. I roll up with my list and a empty van and I'm leaving with everything I need for a 150 plate event. What I really mess with is they cater to small businesses like mine. A lotta these big wholesale spots make you feel like you bothering em if you ain't ordering for a chain. Canton treat me the same whether I'm grabbing a case of oxtails for one wedding or stocking up for a whole month of events. The staff move quick, they know they inventory, and they don't be playing games with the pricing. Pricing is the main thing tho. As a caterer your margin is everything. I done sat down and compared what I pay at Canton versus other spots and Canton consistently come out cheaper, especially on bulk meat, rice, beans, and canned goods. Them collard greens by the case? Them bulk seasonings? My oxtails? It add up to real money saved over a month. A couple things to know if you new. Park can get tight cause it's downtown LA, so I usually go on a weekday morning before traffic get crazy. Bring your reseller info, have your list ready, and don't be afraid to ask somebody where stuff at cause the warehouse big and you can get turned around. Also they got a weekly flyer with deals, look at that before you go. Canton ain't fancy. It's a warehouse. But if you a small caterer, food truck, or restaurant owner tryna keep your overhead down without sacrificing quality, this where you need to be shopping.
Very good. Very good prices. They deliver
Best kept grocery shopping secret in town. Need to cook up a bunch for a potluck or party? This is the place to go! No membership needed.
I unloaded my goods here. The staff here are incredibly lazy. It took over an hour to sign for two different types of goods. The owner here clearly has plenty of money to hire such incompetent people. When I complained to the warehouse manager, he actually said it was normal. Then I ask the owner of this company, do your staff also take a whole day to deliver a pallet of goods? This was a truly terrible experience.
Always so helpful. Plenty of parking. Great place to buy your professional kitchen needs. Plenty of parking and help.
