I'd forgotten that I'd shopped here before when I bought a dozen frozen personal pizzas for a party that were not very good and nobody ate more than a few bites. You might need to season things to your liking. They rely a little heavily on salt, bottled lemon flavor, or citric acid to add flavor. If you are good with spices and can add fresh vegetables to everything you can get a pretty easy to prepare, acceptable meal. I needed pantry items and found most were $1-$3 more than I usually spend. It's an okay store. The fresh tortillas are a step above the packaged mass-produced ones and a step below the Sonora-style ones I get in Tijuana. The beans are over-salted but with fresh chopped cabbage and rice and their chicken skewers everything was tasty. I don't recommend the salsas (a weird aftertaste).
So grateful to have this market in the neighborhood. The fresh orange juice is incredible. We have loved the fresh tamales and produce. The rotisserie chicken, refried beans, rice and fresh tortilla in delicious- and for $20 we got several meals. And the staff is so friendly and helpful. LOVE.
I've been shopping here since they took this building over from the old pharmacy that was there, so I'm late but today just made me feel like I needed to give them kuddos they deserve. First of all Carnival is super clean, someone is always sweeping, dusting, cleaning the register or that belt that moves the groceries. Second the meat department, produce and bakery are ALWAYS FRESH and restocked daily. Third the prices for fresh, well prepped and actual tasty pre made meals is top notch, especially in this economy - it feels like they acknowledge and respect hard working people who want a fresh hot delicious meal for their families without breaking the bank. Highly recommend, staff and managers are always treating everyone with exceptional customer service. Go see for yourself!
At first it looks good. Then you see the details and it looses it touch. Food area is constantly dirty. Food lacks taste. I ordered the menudo with pineapple water. For $16.94. Asked for extra lemons and lady wanted to charge more for a lemon. Don't recommend the place.
Fantastic food court, bakery, cheese and meat offerings. Plenty of fruit and veg varieties. Daily made flour tortillas. Glad to have this location to add into my regular grocery routine, and to pick up a wagyu cheeseburger on the way out.
