Cute local spot that had changed drastically over the years. This place has some really good variety in food and drink selection. Upstairs has a few comforting restaurants. I enjoyed the Puerto Rican food this time. They had some of the best sauces to compliment the food we ordered. The place was decorated very well and gave it a more authentic feeling. Loved the food. Had some of the best tostones (twice fried plantains) I've had in years, and I mean that! The appetizer menu this time was enough to satisfy us for a dinner for two. I'm hungry. Lunch was great here today! Maybe dinner here later in the week
Castro Valley Marketplace is one of those spots that just keeps getting better every time you visit. My wife and I really enjoyed the overall experience, from shopping their well-stocked grocery selection to browsing the bakery, which always has something fresh and worth taking home. The butchery is a standout, offering amazing cuts of beef and just about any protein you can imagine. You can tell quality is a priority here. We grabbed pizza during our visit and it definitely hit the mark. Now with even more options like Latin-inspired food and pho, it’s easy to make a full outing of it whether you’re stopping in before or after shopping. There’s also a small, charming shop in the middle with plants and unique gift ideas that adds a nice local touch to the space. Beyond the marketplace itself, the surrounding area offers plenty of other restaurants and places to explore, making this a great hub to spend some time. Overall, Castro Valley Marketplace delivers a well-rounded experience with quality food, variety, and a welcoming community feel.
The whole building has a retro feel, with restaurants and a supermarket inside. I haven’t seen a supermarket like this in a long time. It feels very special and like going back in time! Restaurant : Chinese dumplings Pizza Pho Sushi Cream papa Bakery Mexican food + nature food market
What a wonderful addition to Castro Valley! The marketplace offers a great mix of restaurants featuring a variety of cuisines, making it easy for everyone to find something they love. Personally, I love the baguettes from the bakery — always fresh and delicious. Akemi Sushi is very good, and a consistent favorite. My family loves the French Dip Brisket Banh Mi from Pho 510, while I usually go for their vermicelli bowl. The butcher shop offers high-quality meats and seafood, and their staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Amphora Olive Oil Company carries a huge selection of olive oils and balsamic vinegars with lots of interesting infused flavors. I use their house blend olive oil for all my cooking and salad dressings — it’s fantastic. Their traditional balsamic vinegar is a staple in my kitchen, and while the lychee balsamic is full of flavor, it’s just a tad on the sweeter side. I’m looking forward to trying more of their flavors! CV Natural Grocery may be small, but it carries all the daily staples plus a good variety of unique products from local producers. They also have a nice selection of canned craft beers and beverages from local breweries. It’s truly a great place for family gatherings or meeting up with friends. The shared common-area tables make it easy for everyone to order from different spots and still enjoy a meal together. Such a fantastic community space!
