Cha Yen is one of the best Thai restaurant in Watertown. Prices are reasonable. I had lunch a few days ago, no wait. Shrimp donut was good, juicy. Chicken satay was tender, satay not spicy. Crab meat fried rice was delicious, although crab meat was a bit too small. Beef noodle soup was very good, beef was tender and the soup was wonderful. Pineapple fried rice was good too, although a bit disappointed it was not served in a pineapple. I will come back next time, highly recommended.
Updating on 5/1/26: this place has easily the best mango sticky rice I’ve ever had. They took it off the menu for a few weeks so I tried the it at other restaurants and none of them came even close to how good Cha Yen’s is. It’s back on the menu now so I had to come back and share that. I would recommend eating here even if you were just having the mango sticky rice (though the see ew and Thai iced tea are delicious too)! Original review: This place is one of my favorites! The beef see ew is incredible, and the staff is always so friendly. I also recommend the Thai iced tea. It does get packed even in the middle of the week, so make a reservation even if you don't think you need one. My only ask is PLEASE bring back the mango sticky rice!! It’s all I ever think about!
loved the food. loved the atmosphere. loved the service. we got asked every 10 min or so if we were taken care of and that’s hard to come across these days in restaurants in my opinion. love the portion size since we were able to try 6 dishes without getting too full. loved the corn cake, papaya salad, kee mao (was a slight bit salty for my liking) and the mango sticky rice. i don’t recommend the oyster since it was just egg and oyster with sauce, but it wasn’t bad by any means, just not anything special. overall 9.5/10 experience! the server with the long bleached hair was full of smiles and made the experience even better!
Cozy Watertown gem with delicious Thai dishes and friendly service. Seating area was sectioned with casual tables at front and few sofa tables at the back near bar area. Only issue was our table was literally attached to serving station, …
Delicious, flavorful and upscale-ish Thai food. Menu has loads of options, including several small plates. Most items on the menu could be made vegetarian or be adjusted to be gluten-free, so the restaurant is able to handle first restrictions. Highly recommend the wagyu sliders and cocktails. They have a unique list of cocktails that blend coconut, pandan, and tropical fruits. Staff is very welcoming and friendly. Entree portion size is right for one person (unlike typically large fastfood style options). We were two people and ordered two starters , two drinks, one entree, and one dessert - which was plenty of food and was ~$50/person (with tip).
