About

Cheema Supermarket is an Asian grocery store at 562 Cambridge St in Boston, MA 02134, serving shoppers looking for imported groceries and meat in one neighborhood market. Customer reviews describe a notable selection of Pakistani products, including familiar packaged goods and ingredients that can be hard to find in a typical supermarket. For people cooking Pakistani or other South Asian meals, browsing the shelves may help bring home ingredients and tastes they recognize. Shoppers have also mentioned imported goods that remind them of home, making the store a useful stop for both regular pantry shopping and a specific item on a shopping list.
Meat is an important part of the store’s offering in customer accounts. Reviewers mention lamb, beef, and chicken, and several describe buying halal meat here. One customer praises the staff’s cutting skills, particularly trimming fat from meat, and calls the market a strong choice for halal meat. Experiences are not uniformly positive, however: other reviewers report concerns about meat freshness, chicken cuts, and checkout prices. These are individual accounts rather than guarantees about every visit, but they are useful context. Customers who want a particular cut, preparation, or quantity can ask staff to confirm the details and check the receipt before leaving.
The shopping experience appears practical and focused on selection, rather than a polished or highly organized presentation. One reviewer was glad to find imported products but felt the store could be arranged better. That may be worth keeping in mind if you are visiting for the first time or looking for a specific item: allow time to browse and ask for help locating products. The mix of grocery items and fresh meat makes Cheema Supermarket relevant to home cooks, shoppers seeking Pakistani ingredients, and customers looking for halal meat in Boston. As with any specialty market, availability can vary, so it is sensible to confirm a particular product or cut in person.
Cheema Supermarket is open daily, Monday through Sunday, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., according to its listed hours. Its Cambridge Street address places it in Boston’s 02134 area, making it a local option for nearby residents and others traveling to the neighborhood for Asian groceries. The business has a 4.2-star rating from 404 reviews, reflecting a range of customer experiences rather than a single shared view. If you are comparing Boston Asian grocery stores, Cheema Supermarket stands out in the available feedback for recognizable Pakistani imports and its meat counter. Visit with your shopping list, ask questions about the items you need, and review your purchase at checkout for a clear, confident trip.

Great place with a surprising number of recognizable Pakistani products. According to the store owners, the store was opened in '94 by 3 brothers from Karachi. They claim that lamb and beef is slaughtered in Connecticut by Muslims (on further questioning, not by Pakistanis), and chicken is brought from upstate New York. The chickens had their necks attached, which is an indication of halal meat, but not absolute confirmation. Note: As of June 28, there was a non-Muslim employee working there as well, who was handling the meat section.
I’ve never had issues with the quality of their meat, but I’ve been overcharged twice now. The first time, I was charged $42 more than expected. When I brought it up, the employee blamed the system and seemed flustered and something felt off and intentional. I went back again today and was overcharged by $15. I confronted him, showed that I was tracking my items on my phone, and the total still didn’t add up. He then admitted the mistake and said, “Oh sorry, you’re right.” At this point, it feels like a regular practice. Check your receipts carefully!!!!
Best market for Halal meat. Excellent cutting skills especially removing fat which nobody else does as good as these guys do. Very talented people.
I am glad i found this place, it has a collection of imported goods that reminds me of home. I took one star down because the place could be organized in a better way.
They’re scammers. We asked them for fresh minced meat. They gave old meat and covered it with some fresh meat so we wouldn’t know. Secondly, they gave the worst cuts of chicken. They’ll scam you.
