Sign in to reviewThis restaurant used to have a line out the door when I was last here before the pandemic. It's still busy but luckily no lines this time when we visited on a weekend for lunch. We were seated and our orders were taken within minutes. They are known for their Com tam (broken rice) dishes so that's what we ordered. Funny enough our food took awhile to come out. Portions were large and my pork chop was delicious. Very flavorful and still moist. I was a little disappointed in the Tau hu ky (shrimp mousseline). It was a little plain and oily. The stream pork cake was ok.
Don't you EVER let ANYONE tell you that Com Tam Thanh isn't the BEST com tam in California. I've been coming to Com Tam Thanh since I was a little boy. Nothing hits the same as Com Tam Thanh. I don't know what they put in their food, but I never get ngan. I will keep shoveling the rice in my mouth even if I am full. I can perfectly picture how each ingredient and topping taste in my mind. The scallion oil. The egg on top. The juicy grilled pork. Bi. Cha. Tau hu ky. The nuoc mam with just a hint of spice to it. The little crunchy bits of fried pork fat scattered throughout your plate. How every individual grain of rice feels on your tongue. It's perfect. I had it yesterday and the leftovers for lunch today and I STILL want to eat it again tomorrow.
Really well done. Com tam is usually a safe choice on any Vietnamese restaurant menu, but this place kicks it up a notch. You know it has to be good when a whole restaurant is named for one specific dish. Even if you don’t want com tam, their other selections are just as good. Service is great.
Ngon! 😋🍚 I consider it to be one of the best places in OC for cơm tấm! Although the restaurant is known for its broken rice dishes, the menu also offers a wide range of other items like vermicelli items and soups. * Cơm Tấm Tàu Hủ Ky Bò Nướng Dồi: 9/10 - everything was freshly made and the portions were decently sized Be sure to bring cash because they don't accept cards or Apple Pay! The prices are a bit high, but the portions are a lot bigger than the other places I've been to. The interior is a bit small, but it is capable of fitting a decent number of tables and customers. The workers are always very nice, and the food comes out almost instantly. Everything is great except for the fact that they're located in Liberty Square Plaza, which is known for being very packed usually. One of our favorite places to eat at! ☺️
Pretty fast service. Food was really good, large portions. We had the Cơm Tấm Chá (Broken Rice with Vietnamese meatloaf) and Rice Noodles with Lemongrass Tofu
