Located at 5456 Hansel Ave, Community Thrift Store is a well-known thrift store in Orlando, FL that caters to secondhand shoppers, vintage enthusiasts, and budget-conscious bargain hunters. Situated in the South Orlando area, this expansive venue provides a classic treasure-hunting experience where shelves and racks are continually stocked with an eclectic mix of pre-owned merchandise. Whether you are searching for everyday essentials, retro curiosities, or unique additions for your living space, the store offers a sprawling environment dedicated to the art of sustainable shopping.

The primary draw of Community Thrift Store lies in its sheer size and broad inventory. Thrifters willing to take their time can sift through extensive racks of secondhand apparel, with graphic t-shirts and casual clothing standing out as popular finds. Alongside garments, the floor features an array of home decor, wall art, novelty mirrors, and assorted housewares. Media collectors will also find selections of used vinyl records, books, and vintage knick-knacks. While pricing can vary across different categories, dedicated shoppers frequently uncover rewarding bargains if they are prepared to explore the aisles thoroughly.

Before planning your visit, there are a few essential logistics to keep in mind for a smooth experience. The store operates strictly on a cash-only payment basis at the register. While an automated teller machine is available on-site, bringing cash beforehand ensures you avoid any unexpected payment delays or machine downtimes. Ample parking is conveniently available right outside the building, making it simple to load bulkier finds into your vehicle. During peak shopping hours, checkout lines can form quickly, so bringing a little extra patience while the team processes transactions is always recommended.

Operating Monday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM (and closed on Sundays), the venue maintains consistent daytime hours throughout the workweek. The atmosphere inside is that of an authentic, unpretentious discount warehouse rather than a pristine boutique. Experienced local pickers appreciate this straightforward setting, where the inventory rotates frequently and items are presented in raw, discoverable volume. It is an ideal weekend stop or weekday detour for college students, DIY crafters, and seasoned collectors who genuinely enjoy the tactile thrill of hunting through rows of secondhand goods.

With hundreds of community reviews reflecting its place in Central Florida's resale scene, Community Thrift Store remains a staple destination for anyone seeking affordable finds and hidden gems in Orlando. By arriving prepared with cash and an open mind, visitors can spend an engaging afternoon uncovering nostalgic memorabilia, practical wardrobe pieces, and distinctive household treasures.

A little expensive. If you hunt you can find deals. Bring cash! Be patient with long lines. Staff is helpful. Used vinyl was $9 which is crazy. Usually $1-2. Huge store. Great variety of goods. Plenty of parking.

I am absolutely appalled by the service at this COMMUNITY THRIFT STORE. An employee violently snatched a scooter from my 5-year-old son and threw it, claiming he couldn’t ride it. This is inexcusable behavior towards a child! My husband told her not to act like that towards our son. Things escalated rather quickly and the employee said “if I do I’ll guarantee you sir we both be going to jail”. She proceeded to yell and curse in front of my 5 & 3 year old. When we tried to address the issue with the so-called "manager," instead of resolving anything, she only made it worse. She wouldn’t let us express our concerns and allowed the employee to come back and yell, curse and threaten us. The situation got worse and the manager just stood there, refusing to intervene. To top it off, she had the audacity to say she couldn’t choose a side because she didn’t see what happened! All it would have taken was a simple, respectful request from the employee. If your staff can’t handle customer interactions with basic decency, they shouldn’t be on the floor at all. This level of disrespect is unacceptable, and I will not be returning! Stay with Goodwill!

Audit Report: Community Thrift Store — Inventory vs. Logistics Analysis Subject: Luxury Security for Thrift-Tier Sourcing Status: Inefficient Pricing / High-Value Inventory I arrived to fact-check the claims of this being a "hidden gem." While physically visible, the location possesses a locational cloaking effect that makes it feel psychologically tucked away. It’s a destination for the dedicated, not the casual. The Findings: Security Protocol: Every single item is outfitted with a security tag. While I admire the commitment to loss prevention, the "Maximum Security" vibe for second-hand goods is statistically over-engineered and creates a tedious tactile experience. Pricing Audit: Major discrepancy found here. The "Thrift" label is a misnomer; prices are currently trending at 90-95% of MSRP. If you’re looking for a bargain, this isn't an audit you’ll enjoy—you’re essentially paying a "curation tax" for the convenience of not digging. Inventory Density: This is where the debunking happens. Despite the prices and the odd location, the volume of high-quality items is undeniably high. The environment is bustling for a reason: the stock is elite, even if the price tags are ambitious. Conclusion: I can formally confirm why this isn't everyone's first pick. It’s a high-friction, high-cost environment. However, for those willing to navigate the security tags and the "brand-new" prices, the inventory remains a statistical winner in the Orlando second-hand market. Auditor’s Rating: 3.1/5 (Points deducted for "New-Price" Delusions)

Pretty good, though sometimes it smells bad. Also only cash, so make sure to bring some because there’s a 50% chance the atm will be broken. Despite all of that, i do have to give it a rating of three because I’ve found some really good things there. I recommend going there to look at t-shirts.
