Cousin Vinny's Sandwich Co. is a sandwich shop at 1331 W Cass St in Tampa, Florida, serving a New York Italian-inspired sandwich experience in the city. Customer reviews highlight carefully assembled sandwiches, generous hot options, and bread that stands out as much as the fillings. With a 4.8 rating from 1,200 reviews, it is a popular choice for people looking for a substantial lunch or dinner built around a well-made sandwich. The feel described by guests is welcoming and focused on the food, with friendly service at the counter helping make a first visit comfortable.
A standout order in customer feedback is the Parm Don, a cutlet sub praised for its lightly breaded, crisp, well-seasoned cutlet and creamy vodka topping. Reviewers say the details matter here: the balance between meat and bread feels right, and the bread has a quality one guest compared to a homemade sourdough loaf. Those touches make the sandwiches appealing to diners who care about texture and proportion, not just a large filling. The Capo del Shmeet is another signature choice mentioned by a guest, ordered hot; its name and place on the menu make it a natural option for anyone ready to explore beyond a familiar sandwich.
For a classic, hearty meal, customers also recommend the Meatball Parmesan sandwich. One couple found it large enough to share, with tasty meatballs covered in Parmesan-style sauce. That makes it a practical pick for two people splitting lunch, while the hot cutlet and meatball options are also suited to diners who want a filling individual meal. Whether you are visiting with family, meeting a friend, or trying the shop after hearing about it from local food fans, the menu offers recognizable Italian-American sandwich favorites alongside named specialties. Reviews also describe a friendly welcome from the counter staff, adding an approachable note to the experience.
Cousin Vinny's Sandwich Co. is open every day of the week, Monday through Sunday, from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Its address is 1331 W Cass St, Tampa, FL 33606, a useful detail when planning a stop for lunch or an early evening meal. For local residents, visitors, and anyone searching for a sandwich shop in Tampa, the combination of hot cutlet subs, meatball Parmesan, distinctive bread, and attentive counter service makes it a place worth considering. If you are deciding what to order, customer comments point toward the Parm Don for a crisp cutlet with creamy vodka topping, or the Meatball Parmesan for a hearty sandwich to enjoy or share.

Blew away every expectation I had. Going in I knew I was gonna get an amazing cutlet sub since everyone’s been raving about them, but no one did it justice. Had the Parm Don and it was absolutely delicious, the cutlet was lightly breaded, crispy and well seasoned, topped with an amazing creamy vodka sauce and finished with a stringy layer of parmesan, all in a freshly baked crunchy loaf. Every bite was exceptional. And that doesn’t even include the service! It was my first time here and the staff was incredibly helpful in recommending their favorites, food was made to order and still came out quickly, and to top it off the manager/owner was helping out front of house. And that’s without considering he walked around every table and offered us their new dessert to try, for free!! Atmosphere was unbeatable, lots of young people getting a late night sub, just like myself! Music was at the perfect volume, the entire restaurant smelled like chicken cutlets, it was impeccable. I can’t wait to come back.
We made our first visit to Cousin Vinny’s Tampa, a Michelin-recommended sandwich spot that my son found. Right as we walked in, the male staff member taking orders at the counter was exceptionally friendly, which left a great first impression. We ordered their signature Capo del Shmeet (Hot, $16) and the Chicken Caesar Wrap ($15). The Capo del Shmeet had a great texture—crispy on the outside and soft on the inside—and the portion was massive! It was more than enough for two people to share. Because we were so full, we ended up bringing the Chicken Caesar Wrap home to enjoy as a meal the next day. As for the flavor, it didn't quite leave a particularly "special" impression, considering its Michelin hype. In particular, compared to the fresh sandwich wraps you can pick up at Publix, the Chicken Caesar Wrap felt a bit overpriced for the quality at $15. While the generous portions and welcoming service were highlights, it felt a little lacking in terms of value for money. Still, it's a decent spot if you are looking for a hearty, filling sandwich!
This spot absolutely deserves 5 stars. You wouldn't be able to tell from pictures alone, but the sandwiches really hit all the fine little details that elevate ordinary ingredients -- the 'meat-to-bread' ratio is perfect, and the bread itself has a quality that reminds me of a homemade sourdough loaf (stupendous flavor, soft inside with a nice and crisp outer crust). The cutlets are just right as well; thin enough to work well on a sandwich, with a light, non-greasy layer of breading. Without carrying on any further, you get my point. Every bite was a pleasure. I'll definitely be coming back again in the future.
Tampa Bay Food Tours finally made it to Cousin Vinny’s Sandwich Co., and this may be the quintessential New York Italian sandwich experience in Tampa. The story is almost as good as the sandwiches. What started as a weekend …
We wanted to check out the food at Cousin Vinny’s after reading about them on social media and the hype is definitely worth it. My husband and I ordered the Meatball Parmesan sandwich and it didn’t disappoint. It was a large hot sandwich that we shared. The meatballs were very tasty and smothered in their delicious spicy vodka sauce with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. (You have a choice of sauces if you don’t want spicy) The bread was fantastic and not soggy at all. The sandwich was piping hot and we had to wait a few minutes for it to cool. We could see why Guy Fieri decided to highlight this eatery in Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Just as we were finishing, Matt came over and delivered a fresh out of the oven Salted Brown Butter cookie that was to die for! Matt shared that the shop was planning on expanding to some other locations in the near future. We can’t wait to return to try some of their chicken cutlet sandwiches.
