Crystal Island Massage is a massage therapist in Oakland, CA, located at 1038 5th Ave, Oakland, CA 94606. For people searching for a local massage spot in Oakland that is open every day from 8:30 AM to 10:00 PM, it offers a convenient option for weekday and weekend appointments alike. The business appears to serve a broad range of guests, from nearby residents looking for regular bodywork to visitors who want a simple place to unwind after a long day.
Based on customer feedback, one of the main reasons people visit Crystal Island Massage is the value. Several reviews mention affordable pricing for a 60-minute session and describe treatments that include foot, head, and body massage. Some customers also note the use of hot oil and hot stones, which can be appealing for anyone who wants a deeper sense of warmth and relaxation during their visit. That makes this Oakland massage location a practical choice for people who want straightforward service without a luxury spa price.
The atmosphere is described in mixed but concrete terms. Some guests mention that the exterior does not look fancy, while others say the inside feels clean, cozy, and relaxing. Amenities mentioned in reviews include a room with a shower, sauna, and hot tea, which may add comfort for clients who want to linger a little longer before or after their session. For people who care more about the experience of the treatment than a polished storefront, Crystal Island Massage may be a fit.
The service style also comes through clearly in the reviews. Some customers say the pressure and technique felt effective for tight shoulders and stress, while others had less positive experiences and raised concerns about pricing consistency or the overall intensity of the massage. That range suggests the experience can vary, so it may be best suited for clients who are comfortable asking about services, confirming rates in advance, and sharing their pressure preferences during the session.
Overall, Crystal Island Massage in Oakland, CA is a local option for people seeking a massage therapist with daily availability, modest pricing, and services that may include hot oil, hot stones, and body-focused treatments. It may appeal most to those looking for a no-frills, convenient massage stop in the East Bay, especially if they value access, warmth, and practical self-care over a high-end spa setting.

Sign in to reviewThis is not a Fancy place in fact looks pretty bad from the outside but don't underestimate for the price that you pay is worth every Penny this was my 3rd time been here I got a $55 60 minute massage includes foot head and body massage with hot oil hot stones in a room with shower sauna and hot tea.I also tried the table shower and scrub its ok but that was too close and personal even though they did a good job! I get Andy every time.Only thing i do not like is how demanding they are with the tip I don't mind tipping but i said $10 she said was too lil and charge $2-4 dollars to pay with card.i would say is cheaper than other places
Schedule price online said 60min for $50 and I continue to scheduled online. I called to double check about price and she said $55. Get there signs all over saying $55 no biggie but why lie about it. I showed the lady online website..here she go it's a old ad sure ok. 2nd red flag $2 charge credit card fee. Then when I was to pay cash she noticed I had limited tip cash. She waived fee. But receipt asking for tip...I said I haven't gotten Massage yet. She said don't worry...said to myself I know. Surprise to see a man giving me a massage thought it would be the lady. 3rd red flag he's massaging my body with the towel on my body not his hands...what's the point of taking all my clothes off. Never ever experience this. Acted like he didn't speak English I ask 3times for the lady. I explained to her about the towel massage not hands on with oil. Now he's rubbing with oil and that's it just it. My 5yr old niece could do a better job! I sked him did he know how to get my knots out here he goes playing crazy. It's common knowledge giving massages..I didn't know what a knot was until I started getting massages 20yrs ago. I even showed him how to use his thumbs on my skin..wasted energy as I put which body parts that needed more attention upper back knots and lower waist on the website when I booked. Ask him to get the lady again Finally they bring in a Female to give me a massage. Everything was fine until the tip she had the nerve to say $10 after I'm thinking she's thanking me for giving $5 in ones. Language was off but a $10 came out of her mouth. I looked shocked and said to myself you lucky to get that. She was alright mostly focused on my back side not the front. Best part was the head. After reading a review I didn't get hot stones.. I seen sauna they didn't mention anything of this to me. And it's other places in China TownYa Ya Health Spa for $60. $45 foot massage right by the National Cosmetology Beauty School. The only reason I didn't go was my friends place was closer to this place. And this place online ad made it appear really professional. I think they thought I was stupid and never had a massage before. Never ever again. I was on vacation from Houston and just wanted a pieceful massage. Don't see there still in business Need to get rid of the man or have him collect money, and forcing a tip in the beginning and end and have the nerve to tell you what to tip. But got several Signs saying non refundable. False $50 Online Schedule Advertisement I would advise use your card to dispute.
Went here for a deep tissue massage because I desperately needed it after booking through their website. They were surprised/startled by my arrival so I showed them the web page since I purposely kept it open. The front desk women deliberated then took me to the back area. A man did my massage even though they said "Lady #2" would be doing it. I'm not shy about my body but switch in therapist might bother some. Overall he did a decent job, the language barrier was my only real issue since it was hard to communicate pressure scale.
I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. Honestly, I’m shocked they’re even running a massage business. The massage I received felt more like torture than relaxation — I left feeling like I needed a real massage afterward. My shoulders still feel bruised and painful to the touch, and my back has been aching since. To make matters worse, the man giving the massage kept coughing throughout the entire session, which made me extremely uncomfortable. And then, at the end, they pressured me for a tip. I wasn’t planning on leaving one after such a terrible experience, but they literally closed the door and kept demanding a “minimum $10 tip.” That’s completely unacceptable — tipping should never be forced, especially when the service was this bad. Save your money, your time, and your health — go anywhere else but here.
Absolutely loved my experience here! The place is super clean, cozy, and relaxing. My therapist really knew what she was doing – perfect pressure and technique. I walked in with tight shoulders and walked out feeling like a brand-new person. Staff are friendly, professional, and make you feel welcome right away. Prices are very reasonable for the quality. This will definitely be my go-to spot for a massage from now on! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
