Cuu Long Quan

TL;DR: Go get the pho and the eggrolls. I don't know what had made me bookmark Cuu Long Quan, but I had - and after dropping off hubby at Hobby, I went to check it out. I almost didn't after seeing how run down it looks from the outside, but don't make that mistake and go. The inside is actually nice. The elderly gentleman who took the order must be the owner. He doesn't seem warm initially but I realized later on that it's due to the language barrier and that he's actually quite sweet. I normally hate egg rolls, especially the kind at Chinese restaurants with cabbage inside. But the egg rolls here looked really crispy, so I decided to give it a try. I also ordered a large #13 pho with steak, brisket, and tendon without cilantro, per usual. The egg rolls were filled with a seasoned ground meat mixture that was delicious. What makes them addictive and so fun to eat is the insanely crispy texture. Listen to the crunch in the video. It also comes with a lot of vegetables including the julienned cucumber and pickled carrots. 6/5 and instantly added to my Best of Houston list on Yelp. I would come here just for this. But the pho here also gave it a run for the money. The broth was good but I would still put it at a 4.4/5. The meat in the broth though - that steak melted in my mouth. Hands down the best beef I've had in a bowl of pho. 5/5 Half way through that bowl, I ordered the lemongrass tofu dish to go for my vegetarian friend. I didn't get to try it, but she said it was awesome. So I walked in on my own and ordered three dishes. Still so affordable, and thoroughly enjoyable. Check them out next time you're in the area, and do your taste buds a favor. Plenty of parking.

One of the best Vietnamese restaurants I’ve ever tried! It’s located in Houston, and although it looks simple and unremarkable from the outside, it’s absolutely worth stepping inside. The food is delicious, the prices are very affordable, and the service is truly outstanding. A hidden gem you shouldn’t miss! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

My sons and I had lunch at this mom-and-pop place because we wanted Vietnamese food while on the SE side of town. This place really hit the spot. It's quite reasonably priced and the portions are a good size. We had leftovers of the pork stir-fry with fish sauce and the tofu - another plus is that it has vegetarian options.

So to be transparent, as you pull up to park at the restaurant, the entire shopping center looks abandoned. I can honestly tell you, dont miss out on thier food by the outside appearance. They are a greatl family owned eatery with good food. The menu is very simple from Pho to their Vermicelli bowls, you won't be disappointed. Give them a try!

Eating at Cuu Long Quan was a great experience. It was nostalgic and reminded me of how old school Asian restaurants ran. You walk in and it smells like a 1980s Vegas casino—sterile cleaner mixed with cigarette smoke. This snapshot from another generation was complete with the classic Asian restaurant decor and the DVD/VHS combo player with a Burl Ives claymation special playing. The waiter was typical for a great Asian place—direct, prompt, utilitarian, and mostly just saying “okay” for much of the meal but as you depart, he becomes quite jovial and talks you up for a few minutes. Classic! I think sketchy is too strong of a word (we never felt unsafe) but the shopping area has stores with barred windows, there’s shards of broken glass in the parking lot, and at least 8 closed circuit cameras in the restaurant so something noteworthy might have gone down in the past. Lots of charm and character! The dishes were solid offerings. We got shrimp spring rolls (though we ordered pork and shrimp), combination pho, grilled pork with egg rolls and vermicelli, and the stir fried noodles with chicken/beef/shrimp. All of them tasted great—the pho was savory, the varied texture and mix of tastes of the vermicelli dish was amazing, and although the sauce and meat of the stir fried noodles were average, the noodles had a great wok seasoned taste. Recommended!
