Cynthia K Salon is a hair salon at 35 Newbury St #3 in Boston, MA 02116. For people looking for a Boston salon for a haircut, styling, or selected hair treatments, its customer feedback offers a helpful picture of both strengths and experiences to discuss before booking. The salon has a 4.4-star rating from 40 reviews. Customers describe returning over several years, while other reviews raise concerns about results and service. That range makes it worthwhile to communicate clearly about your goals and expectations when arranging an appointment.

Haircuts are a recurring point of praise. One longtime client says stylist Pam understands their hair, creates an individualized style, and gives cuts that grow out well while still feeling fresh. That feedback may appeal to guests who want a cut tailored to their hair rather than a one-size-fits-all look, and who value a style that continues to work as it grows. Reviews also mention wedding-day styling, though one customer describes a disappointing experience. If you are planning an important event, share your preferred look, timing, and any reference photos in advance so the salon can confirm what is possible for your appointment.

Customers also mention a keratin treatment, deep conditioning, and a scalp massage. One reviewer who had experienced damage elsewhere describes Cynthia as kind and helpful, and praises a deep-conditioning service and relaxing scalp massage. Another reviewer reports that their hair remained dry and damaged after a keratin treatment, despite waiting for improvement. These differing accounts are a reminder that hair condition and treatment outcomes vary. Before choosing a service, explain your hair history, ask what results are realistic, and discuss the process and cost with the salon so you can make an informed decision.

Cynthia K Salon is located on Newbury Street in Boston, with appointments listed Tuesday through Saturday. Hours are Tuesday 8 a.m.–4 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday 10 a.m.–8 p.m., Friday 10 a.m.–6 p.m., and Saturday 8 a.m.–5 p.m.; the salon is closed Monday and Sunday. The mix of morning, evening, and Saturday hours may help guests fit a visit around work or weekend plans. Whether you are seeking a personalized haircut, styling, or a conditioning service, consider describing what you want and asking questions before your visit. The reviews suggest that clear communication is especially useful when choosing a treatment or preparing for a special occasion.

First off, disregard the one malicious post from years ago - there is a whole backstory here which was left out. This salon will do pretty much everything to ensure that you leave satisfied. I have been coming for a number of years and the other customers I meet keep returning, just like me. Cynthia is great with color, she gives amazing haircuts, plus she listens to whatever it is you want. Most highly recommended - and I have tried the other Newbury Street salons.

I’ve been seeing Pam for the last 3 years. Pam is an artist. Every cut grows out so well and feels really fresh. She understands my hair in a way few have before her and knows how to create an individualized style based on what she’s …

Definitely read before booking an appointment here. I had high hopes and thought I was going to be treating my mother, bridesmaid, and myself to an upscale salon on my wedding day. Attached are pictures of the day. I did not get a picture of the final style Cynthia did for me but just know it was awful! This hair salon is absolute GARBAGE and I would not recommend going there for any hair services. They DO NOT take plastic, only Venmo, cash, or check. The owner of the salon Cynthia or Cindy not only burnt my face with a curling iron (and replied oh it wasn’t that hot) is poor at communication, unprofessional, unorganized, rude, passive aggressive. I do not believe that anyone in that salon is an internationally trained stylist. Cynthia the owner nor anyone in that salon know how to do bridal services, even though their website says they do they DO NOT. This salon is located on Newbury St. in Boston, probably the most high-end street in downtown Boston, so one would assume that you would be treating yourself by booking an appointment at this salon. I recently had a small intimate wedding Oct. 30 2021 in Boston MA. I booked 3 appointments one for myself, my mother, and my bridesmaid back in June 2021. In August 2021 I sent pictures of hair styles for the wedding, I also sent two pictures one of myself and the other of my bridesmaids hair so that way the stylists assigned to us Cynthia/Cindy (owner of salon) & Maria would know what we had going on as far as hair goes. I did not book a trial because I the bride was just looking for a fish tail braid, or a voluptuous side braid and my bridesmaid, mother live out of state, and the hairstyles they were looking to get where nothing out of the ordinary a simple down curled with some twist in hair and a low bun. There are a lot of details in between Oct.20 the day I confirmed my appts. and wedding day Oct. 30, long story short, I was told the braid I wanted could not be done it didn’t match my dress and that if I wanted it done I needed to purchase hair, so I settled for an updo that could be done. That was where I thought we left it and that’s what I thought was going to be performed. So, as she started to prepare my hair for the up do, she had Darlene her assistant I assume standing beside her helping her. Darlene first did the little side braid in my hair and then Cynthia destroyed the up do from there. I wish I had a picture of her finished style however I do not. After about crying in the salon chair, and losing my mind, I told Cynthia to please work on my mother’s hair I needed to go outside and get some fresh air and to calm down because I was about to lose it on that woman. So, after I went outside Darlene the assistant came down to talk me off a ledge because I was seconds away from being very ruthless towards Cynthia. I agreed to go back upstairs and let Darlene put the fish tail braid in my hair like I had originally wanted from the get-go. After Cynthia was finished with my mother’s hair which also was horribly done and Maria the other stylist who my bridesmaid hair was done by (also a awful job) I paid the bill of $400. We walked out and left. Before I got back to my hotel to meet the makeup artist I booked to do my make up I received multiple phone calls, one text message and two voicemails (which were BEYOND unprofessional) from Cynthia K salon telling me that I did not pay Maria the stylist who did my bridesmaid “up-do” (which was a down hair style)and that she is an independent stylist and needs to be paid for her services. How their stylist at the salon get paid is not my issue and that is something that the salon should have figured out. I paid $400 for three awful bridal service hair styles. (2) of the $150 went to Cynthia herself and so the remaining $100 should have went to her stylist Maria. Needless to say my mother took out her up-do, my bridesmaid re did some of her twist and hair, and I had the make up artist I booked fix my fish tail braid that was NOT DONE by CYNTHIA herself.

To be fair, I have been waiting over 2 weeks after my keratin treatment at cynthia because the lady sai it will getting better after times. I had paid over 650$ for 1 time hairs treatment but unfortunately my hair doesn’t getting any better at all, still dry, break end and even worse. I didn’t expect my hairs to be like brand new after all but at least get healthier after paying that much money. So sad , I feel like being scammed!!
