Tucked into East Oakland, Đà Nẵng Quán Vietnamese Cuisine is a welcoming Vietnamese restaurant that locals return to for flavorful, comforting dishes served without fuss. At Oakland, CA, this small spot has built a solid reputation with a 4.4 rating across 183 reviews, and the praise feels grounded in exactly what diners want from a neighborhood restaurant: food that tastes authentic, portions that satisfy, and service that makes it easy to stop in for a casual meal. Open daily from morning to early evening, it fits naturally into breakfast, lunch, and early dinner routines for people living and working around the area.
What stands out most at Đà Nẵng Quán Vietnamese Cuisine is the range of Vietnamese dishes people specifically remember after their visit. Reviews repeatedly point to Bánh Xèo and Bánh Khọt as standout choices, while Bún Bò Huế and Bún Mắm come up as deeper favorites for diners who want bold, layered flavor. Other guests mention enjoying phở đặc biệt, bánh bèo, and canh chua, which gives a good sense of how broad the menu feels beyond the most familiar pho order. The common thread is that the broths, textures, and savory balance leave people feeling like they found a place that serves real Vietnamese comfort food rather than a simplified version.
The atmosphere sounds true to many beloved small restaurants: modest, busy, and focused more on the food than on polish. Diners describe it as a little hole-in-the-wall, a tiny place, and at times stuffy or humid, but those comments are usually paired with appreciation for quick service and meals worth returning for. That makes this Vietnamese restaurant in Oakland especially appealing for people who care more about authenticity and flavor than a dressed-up dining room. It is a practical choice for a lunch break, an easy casual meal with friends, or a stop for anyone exploring Vietnamese cooking beyond the usual bowl of pho.
Another reason people remember this address at 615 E 12th St is the sense of discovery. Some diners arrive because a Vietnamese friend brought them, while others walk in curious and leave with new favorite dishes they had not tried before. That kind of experience matters for local search because it tells you who this place is good for: longtime fans of regional Vietnamese food, Bay Area diners seeking hearty noodle soups, and newcomers who want to branch out into dishes with more variety and character. The option to pay by credit card also adds a bit of everyday convenience.
For anyone searching for an honest Vietnamese restaurant in Oakland, CA, Đà Nẵng Quán Vietnamese Cuisine offers the kind of meal that earns repeat visits through flavor, familiarity, and consistency. It is not presented as flashy or trendy; instead, it feels like the sort of neighborhood kitchen people are genuinely happy to find. If you are in Oakland and craving Bún Bò Huế, Bún Mắm, crispy Bánh Xèo, or a generous bowl of pho, this is a place that many diners consider well worth the stop.

Sign in to reviewThis little hole-in-the-wall is a go-to spot for comforting Vietnamese dishes. The Bánh Xèo and Bánh Khọt are solid choices, but my personal favorites are the Bún Bò Huế and Bún Mắm — packed with flavor and absolutely satisfying. They also take credit cards, which is always a plus. It’s a must-stop in Oakland if you’re craving Vietnamese food beyond just pho or Chinese options. The space is small, so expect a wait during peak hours. Street parking only, so be sure not to leave any valuables in your car.
I am beyond happy to have discovered this authentic Vietnamese restaurant! It’s always exciting to find a place that truly delivers on flavor and authenticity—and this one absolutely does. I ordered the Bún Bò Huế, but with a twist. I prefer seafood instead of the traditional meat, and they were more than happy to accommodate my request. And let me tell you—it was hands down the best Bún Bò Huế I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The broth was incredibly rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Every bite was packed with deliciousness. They also served it with the proper vegetables and herbs that truly complement the dish—and they were generous with them, which I really appreciated. Nothing worse than being stingy with the fresh accompaniments! I’ll definitely be back. This place is a gem for anyone craving authentic Vietnamese cuisine.
Super delicious! Quick service! Very stuffy and humid as expected. We came here for our lunch break hour and were delighted by our meals. Ordered the large bun bo hue and medium pho dac biet. The large was very generous and filling. Both broths were tasty and and mostly balanced. We felt the food was fairly priced. This was my first time trying Huyet/blood cake and was surprised I liked it. Wasn't gelatinous like I thought. Their tripe is SUPER good. It had flavor instead of just being there for texture, and it vaguely reminded me of menudo. Also ordered a sugarcane juice and ice thai tea. Both were super delicious and fresh. Definitely worth noting that they fill the entire cup with ice and poured the beverages below ice level which is something you might not expect for $6 They had great condiment options at the table but definitely need to clean then as they were super dirty. There was a rush that came I'm around 1PM which makes sense because the food is great. Definitely will be coming back to try some more!
my Vietnamese friend brought me here, and it was a totally new experience for me. I’m used to just getting different kinds of pho at Vietnamese places. so happy to discover that I love bánh bèo and canh chua (Vietnamese sour soup)!
What a gem of a place. I always, always pass by here to go to Thanh Ky on the corner and always wondered. I wondered whether this tiny Vietnamese place in Oakland would live up to the hype of Vietnamese cuisine in San Jose, and I’m so glad to report that it did. They have a huge menu, lots of noodles soups, rice, different apps that represent all across the Vietnam region (all parts, northern, southern etc) I ordered the Banh Xeo and the Bun Rieu, really good, solid as heck. Prices are reasonable, and will definitely be coming back.
