We had a pretty disappointing experience here. After placing our order, we waited a very long time for the food. It took so long that we eventually had to ask for two of the remaining dishes to be packed as takeout because we needed to leave. One of those dishes was the razor clams, which cost $27 but only came with 6 pieces - definitely not worth the price. The portion overall felt very small, and there were barely any vegetables included either.

Dong Que is one of the best spots in San Jose for authentic Vietnamese food! If you’re craving traditional dishes with bold, fresh flavors, this is the place to go. The menu is extensive, offering a wide variety of Vietnamese favorites, including some unique dishes you don’t always find at other restaurants. Everything I’ve tried here has been flavorful, well-prepared, and served hot and fresh. One of the things I love most about Dong Que is the quick and efficient service. Even when the restaurant is busy, the staff keeps things running smoothly, and the food comes out surprisingly fast. It’s clear they know how to handle the rush without compromising on quality. The restaurant has plenty of seating, with tables that work well for both small groups and larger parties. It’s a great spot for family meals or meeting up with friends. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait if you come during peak hours—it’s a popular place for a reason! Overall, Dong Que is a must-visit for anyone looking for authentic Vietnamese cuisine in San Jose. Delicious food, quick service, and a welcoming atmosphere make it a local favorite!

⚠️ ABSOLUTELY DREADFUL SERVICE AND COMPLETE NEGLECT – AVOID (Đông Quê Restaurant, San Jose) Rating: ⭐ (1/5 Stars) Restaurant: Đông Quê Restaurant Address: 2852 Alum Rock Ave, San Jose, CA 95127 Date of Visit: November 16, 2025 at 4:45 PM Party Size: 10 (Disabled Group) I wish I could review the food, but the truly abysmal service and disrespectful treatment of our party overshadowed any potential enjoyment of the meal. This was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had here, and I will never return. Specific Failures in Service and Courtesy 1. Flagrant Neglect of Disabled Guests at Check-in: Upon arrival, I approached the check-in area to notify staff we were here (a party of 10, including several disabled individuals). Even after I asked multiple young male waiters passing by to check us in or offer help, they didn't answer and didn't stop. To be completely ignored when requesting basic assistance is unacceptable and disrespectful. 2. Unfriendly, Dismissive, and Yelling: The waiter’s communication with our party was incredibly unprofessional. They spoke to us in a loud, inappropriate tone, which made our experience very uncomfortable, and often sighed loudly. The situation peaked when we simply asked for a to-go box; the waiter yelled at us with such loud sounds that it was startling. This dismissive and aggressive behavior is entirely unacceptable in a service environment. Conclusion: A Feeling of Discrimination This was a fundamental service breakdown that moved beyond poor hospitality into sheer neglect. The failure of multiple staff members to assist a disabled group requesting check-in, coupled with the waiter's later unprofessional and aggressive conduct at the table, is truly shocking. Given the staff's clear reluctance to serve and assist us, it gave our entire group the distinct and unsettling feeling that they did not want to serve disabled people and that we were being discriminated against. A restaurant should value all its patrons and offer attentive, respectful service; it is clear this establishment does not. I strongly advise dining elsewhere until management addresses this severe failure in training and customer courtesy.

This place was so loud. I try to come here every time. I'm in town Balut was really good. This is the first time I ate balut and the it had a lot of feathers 👀 Sturgeon soup is so good so are their snails. I think one of my favorite things about this restaurant is the dipping sauce they give you. I would actually buy the green dipping sauce if they've sold it.. Parking lot kind of sucks you'll definitely get a door ding since the spots are so close together.

If you miss Vietnamese flavors and snail dishes, this is the restaurant I really recommend to you. It is really, really to my taste. I was extremely impressed with the steamed clams with lemongrass, stir-fried snails with coconut, crispy fried chicken cartilage or crispy fried frog, and boiled pork with eggplant and shrimp paste or fish hotpot (I didn't take pictures of these two dishes but order them, they are delicious). There is one dish, pig intestines, which I don't like and it has a strong smell, but the rest of the dishes are great. The staff is lovely, the restaurant is clean.
